Tips & Tricks - Hide Those Bags!!

I've been sitting here today, not really terribly motivated because it's still raining. Yes, this hurts my back greatly... So while I beat myself up for being lazy today and not playing with makeup like I intended, I'll share one of my tricks with you. I plan to do this more often, in case there are more days it's rainy and my back just decides to absolutely kill me. Let's get started...

This is the only time I'll let you see these...
We all have nights where we just don't feel rested... Right? For me, that was last night. I tossed, turned and hardly slept- and every time I moved it would wake me up. Needless to say- the bags underneath my eyes are a yucky dark  mess... It looks like I got socked twice and have black eyes. Ok, maybe not that bad... But certainly in need of covering up. How to cover them? Well, aside from buying industrial strength super-concealer- a really simple and fast fix. You know that eye primer you put on your lids to keep your shadows from budging during the day? Wait, what? You've got to be kidding me... You need eye primer!! Ok, phew. Yes.... You have some. Makeup application:

1) Moisturize your face with whatever cream you use
2) Grab the primer... And swipe a little under your eyes
3) Using a concealer brush, lightly pat and blend foundation (liquid or powder) over the primer
4) Apply the foundation to the rest of your face
5) Prime your eyelids, continue makeup application
6) Admire your finished makeup in the mirror, and thank me for giving you this little tip :D

Bag-free!
Ok, ok... You don't actually have to thank me, but it sounded cute. At least in my head it did.... Attempting to make my posts humorous! I'm digressing... Yes, the baggy blue half-moons under your eyes are gone. Kaput! Hidden! Never to be shown again! Well, until you wash off your makeup... It's genius! I've had to adopt this practice since I've developed such awful bags under my eyes from lack of good rest, and just generally feeling crappy. This fools everyone, since they take one look and go "Oh you're looking terrific!". It's my little secret. I smile, thank them, and continue on at least looking healthy. I hide it well... But I'm being as honest as I can!

Next time you wake up with a hangover, or your kids keep you up all night... If you needed to cram for a test, but don't want to show up to school looking like a zombie, or scare that cute boy that pops in at work away... Trust me on this one.... Eye Primer works wonnnnn-ders! You'll look fresh faced, bright eyed... And nobody will be the wiser ;)

There's few things I love as much as I enjoy doing retro-inspired pin up girl looks. And I don't mean the actual lingerie look on my body... No no no, we're talking what actually makes the look! I'm talking makeup. Dark eyeliner, a hint of color on the lids... And va-va-VOOM red lips!! Get your sexy on!

The beauty of this look is that it can be worn with anything- jeans and a t-shirt, or all dolled up to the nines- and it takes literally 5 minutes to do this. The video is long... Because I blabba-blabba-blabba! LOL

All the makeup I wear in the video is simple- two eyeshadows from My Beauty Addiction in Pink Quartz and Topaz, Midnight Mineral Eye Shadow from Orglamix Cosmetics to make my own eyeliner using MBA's Foiling and Lining Serum, and MegaLength Mascara from Wet 'N Wild. There are the eyes- seriously! Done!

I did forget to put blush on... For this look, either a peachy rosy color to brighten your cheeks, or a touch of bronzer will do the trick with a quick swipe just under your cheekbones. Again- this look is simple, Classic and SEXXXXY!

What are you waiting for?! To finish the look I had, I used Revlon ColorStay lipstick in Top Tomato- which is a perfect red for my skin tone- and BAM! Done! That quick and easy!

So all you sexy gals... I want to see pictures!!
If there's one look I insist you re-create..... It's this one!

Taste the rainbow- it's delicious!

I've got spectrum hued eyes... And I'm on a roll! Technically, three videos posted in the past 24 hours... Phew!

I'm totally kicking patooties as far as it comes for video posting lately. I'm on a roll gals... Ok, so here's the look. Skittles- as in the rainbow candy confection that I can't have until I get my braces removed- sooo, a little over a year. These are one of my favorite candies. I just don't really want their ooey-gooey goodness ripping a bracket off my teeth... I'll settle for the colors on my eyes thanks!

Apologies for my giant face... When the image is smaller, it looks oddly oversaturated.

To get this look, a variety of colors from Orglamix Cosmetics were used to get the grab everyone's attention eyes. Basically, you want ROYGBV, along with a muted white and a champagne color.

The spectrum colors consist of:

Red Currant
Mandarin (*)
Citron (*)
Absinthe (*)
Clover
Acai Berry

The lid color is Slate, and the brow shimmer is a lovely color called Champagne Toast. *how appropriate!* I applied these dry so I wouldn't be taking up too much time on camera rinsing the brush, re-wetting, applying color, etc etc etc. Look at how vibrant they come out just dry- imagine wet! Well, you don't have to... I posted a few of 'em over on my Facebook Page for you to ogle an admire- which was done! Sweet like candy! Yes... I totally copped the rainbow look and turned it into Skittles.

All cosmetics purchased by me except when marked with (*) These colors were won in a blog giveaway contest- I did not purchase them.

It's ok... Right??

I sure can't taste the rainbow right now....
But at least my eyes can look like one!

MMmmmmm Jasmine Tea Rocks!
I'm off to grab another cup of tea ;)

*cheers from the crowd*

I used the exact same colors I did last time. I put on a light foundation and concealed underneath my eyes so you can't see the awful bags.

My tip for this, especially if you have dark circles there, is to apply your foundation to your face first. Once it's had a chance to dry slightly, take an eye makeup primer and lightly dab over the circles- being careful to not wipe off the foundation. Take a little concealer, or foundation, and with your fingertips lightly pat the medium over the primer. Voila! Say goodbye to circles under your eyes!

The colors I used  from Orglamix are:

Brimstone- a dark, glittery, shimmery gunmetal gray that appears black if applied in more than two layers.
Saffron- a highly pigmented, shimmery and delicious red shadow- reminds me Poinsettias.
Vanilla Birthday Cake- a bright, shimmery, sparkling white eyeshadow used as a highlighter.

Other things on my face:
Physicians Formula: Organics Mineral Foundation Powder in Translucent
Lip Treatment Plumper from My Beauty Addiction in a lightly tinted pink.
Lip Liner pencil in Berry from Ulta.
Wet 'N Wild MegaLength mascara.

There you have it!

Ok ok ok, so it's inspired by All Hallows Eve.

I've been positively dying to do a dark, sexy and over the top look. So one night... I did. This is what I came up with! If it needed to be labeled- you can say this is very cyber-goth-esque, definitely a fantasy look suitable for clubbing or a night out... However if you're extra-brave, it can certainly be worn during the day.

The complete list of cosmetics is as follows:

Moi Minerals eye shadow in Panic, and Lip Treatment Plumper Gloss.
I needed the most vibrant purple I could find in my collection... This was it! A rich, beautiful violet with a hint of sparkle was just what the gothster called for.
When I finished up my lips, I put on a slightly tinted gloss to blend the colors slightly together, and moisturize my pout.
(*)Panic was a free sample provided to me.

The Starshine Company eye shadow in Royalty.
The perfect compliment to Panic- this rich pink tone has a lovely purple undertone and flecks, which tied to the whole look and brought it together wonderfully.
(*)Royalty was a free sample provided to me.

Orglamix Cosmetics in Midnight & Black Magic, and Magnetism Eye Primer.
Midnight is a matte black shadow, which I used to outline where I wanted the shape of smoky black to go. Once it was blended out slightly, a beautiful sparkling color aptly named Black Magic was then applied for epic shimmer and sparkle!
Magnetism was applied as a primer first before any of the shadows went on.
(*)Black Magic and Magnetism were free samples provided to me.

My Beauty Addiction eye shadow in Pearl.

This color was used to highlight my brow bone very brightly. This is necessary considering how dark the makeup is- and we want the eyes to literally pop with color! It's a beautiful, shimmery, bright white shadow.
(*)Pearl was a free sample provided to me.

Other ingredients I used, and which were all purchased by me:

Maybelline Ultra Liner in Black.
A waterproof eyeliner I use to "paint" the dots on my face.

Wet 'N Wild Cosmetics.
I used both a black kohl eyeliner pencil to fill in my waterlines on the top and bottom lid. I also used it lightly as a lip-liner for a darker look.
MegaLength mascara was applied in two coats to upper lashes, and one coat to bottom ones.

Fantasy Lashes from Spirit Halloween Store
I picked up these feathery goodies at the store, along with a tube of eyelash glue- and there you see it on my face in their full glory!

FreshLook Contact Lenses in Amethyst.
Yes, they are my own. Yes they are prescription... Yes they cover the blue in my eyes, but I wanted to bring the purple look entirely together and have violet eyes for this occasion.

So there you have it- that's what's in the recipe book for this look!

What?! Snarky P actually doesn't wear wild and crazy makeup all the time?!?!?! Absurd!

I know it's shocking... Take a moment to catch your breath. There you go ;)
It's true. I don't always go out with wild, bright colors on my lids... Because some days I just don't want to spend the time dicking around with makeup and making it just perfect..... Sometimes I just want to swipe on some color, liner, mascara and go. Oh, and there's foundation and blush too... But that's it!
Applying the makeup goes much quicker than it does in the video- seriously, this takes maybe 6 minutes to get everything done so you're ready to go out the door. I gab a lot, and give hints and tips, along with the introduction and "thank you for watching my video...." blah blah blah's. Overall, to achieve this look- it's simple.

I'm using only four eye shadow colors from Orglamix. One is used for liner. Swipe on mascara, blush and/or bronzer (which is optional) and viola! Finished and ready for a low key day! I also love the fact that I can wear these colors year round- it's just not season-specific.

What's on my face:

Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream by Clinique.
I use this moisturizer because I find it gives me just the right amount of softness in my skin- and it helps prevent me from breaking out. Additionally, it doesn't cause my skin to freak out and start generating oil- which bothers me greatly.

Physician's Formula: Organics - Mineral Foundation in Translucent- Lightest Shade
In my quest to make my cosmetic routine as natural as possible (minus moisturizer, mascara & lips, sometimes eyeliner) I use this foundation for my face, and also with primer as a slightly heavier concealer. I love how the powder applies and really evens out my skin tone overall. I've been using it for approximately a year, and I've found my skin has considerably fewer breakouts, and my once oily "T-Zone" is practically non-existent. I love it! There are days, of course, and hormones that bring out a little oil... But for the most part, this stuff does its job very well!

Orglamix Cosmetics- Primer & Eye Shadows
Magnetism- a wonderful, silky lid primer which holds colors in place... ALL DAY!

Champagne Toast- a nude, champagne color packed with sparkle.
Espresso- a rich, brown-bronze shade which brightens up my eyes and adds just the right amount of definition
Vanilla Birthday Cake- a white, shimmery and beautiful shadow used as a highlighter in this instance
Brimstone- applied wet as a dark gray, smoky eyeliner
Ginger- mineral blush, which is a rosy, warm toned peach
Topaz- a light bronzer to define my cheekbones

Women with blue eyes can wear almost any colors- but choose carefully and specifically what brown shades you pick out. These are the only shades in the spectrum which may be tougher for blue-eyed ladies to wear.

I'm using Espresso, and I like it because it's a bit more of a "brighter" brown color. There's plenty of shimmer and shine, and it really makes my eyes pop. Blue-eyed girls want to be careful to not pick a really "dark" or "muddy" brown- this will just make your eyes appear smaller and darker than we want to create. For those ladies with green, brown, or hazel eyes- lighter and darker browns will work for you in pretty much any shade. Especially complimentary for green and hazel eyes are colors which have a touch of bronze or gold- it will bring out the gold flecks and really pop the natural colors in your iris for you. Ladies with brown eyes will look amazing with slightly metallic or shimmery shades- since this also will bring out tones not usually seen in dark eyes. The marbling effect is wonderful, wouldn't you agree??

Also, I'm using a great product from My Beauty Addiction.
Foiling & Lining Medium- This liquid medium turns any dry shadow into an instant liner, or can be used to "foil" color onto your eyes- applied wet, the color is more intense and stays put. It does not, however, apply to creme colors.

Wet 'N Wild MegaLength Mascara
This finishes off the look by defining and darkening the lashes. I haven't bought cosmetics from this company in a long time- because honestly, they didn't use to be that good. But I took a chance- and by all accounts, I love this mascara. I have really long lashes as it is, so I don't need thickening or lengthening for my peepers. However, some of the "normal" mascaras I've used just don't give the same coverage and "oomph" I'm looking for... And thus I've settled with this lengthening one. I don't apply it generously to the tips of my lashes, only because I don't want to extend them out too far- do you have any idea how aggravating it is to slip on a pair of sunglasses and have your lashes touch the lens every time you blink?!?! No? Well... it's enough to drive you mad! Trust me, it is. So if you're looking for a really good mascara, and don't want to pay out the nose for one... This is a brand I would recommend to use.

There you have it- my everyday, typical look when I use brown.

What's your go-to look for everyday wear?

Head Cold... Ugh

Hello there lovelies.

I was going to film myself tonight because I had a lot of requests from some of you sick and twisted fans who want to see me wallowing in my head-cold misery. I can't blame you though- because I'd totally want someone else to do it too! Anyways- for the time being, I'm needing to stay silent. Why, you ask?

Well, I'll start from the beginning. Dad got sick.
And while I know "sharing is caring".... I don't like germs shared with me. I'm one of those people who's the first to catch a cold, never gives it to someone else, and the last to get rid of it. Yes- it's awful. So anyways... I was very surprised when my father was miserable and I had no signs of any infection. Nothing. I made sure to still drink lots of liquid and vitamins just to make sure I wouldn't get it. Now cut to Sunday morning. I woke up with a tickle in my throat and didn't think anything of it- I blamed it on the changing of the seasons... Yes, Autumn is making quite a grand entrance this year. So, I planned on making a video. I got sidetracked into sorting through thousands and thousands of pictures on our main computer (since I'm the one that knows how to spot duplicates, and my Mom looooves to save multiple copies of everything- love you Ma!) and that took a good three hours. Now during this, I get the sniffles. And it started out slowly... Again, I chalked it up to it being a warm day, we cleaned part of the house, it's dusty, and evening was quite chilly.

10:30 and I start working on makeup... Sugar Skull time!
Now I'll say I had a blast creating the video- and scared Ma half to death when she had to come up and ask a question. I don't think she quite grasped what the idea was- but it's alright. Now during filming- my nose starts leaking like a faucet. I'm talking yucky stuff. I was getting mad- because I had white face paint on, every time I went to wipe my nose,  I'd smear some off and it would leave a flesh colored patch that was nigh impossible to hide. Since my skin was damp for a few seconds, the makeup wouldn't stick, but it would cake up on the edges where it was dry. I was not very happy.... Long story short- I got through the tutorial with sniffles and profuse apologies to all you viewers (you'll see when it gets posted!) for suffering with me and my blasted sniffs.

Yesterday morning I wake up... And I wanted immediately to turn right back over and go back to sleep... My entire head was so clogged up, I felt like I had spiderwebs in my head. Downstairs I head, and right into my "sick routine". It's time to flush this thing out. In addition to drinking nearly two gallons of tea during the course of the day and evening- including chamomile, lemon ginger, green tea, Earl Gray, peppermint, apple cinnamon and Jasmine- I also had two glasses of Emergen-C which I use religiously when I'm coming down with and have a cold- lots of good vitamins in it. I grabbed a box of Puffs, and hunkered down in my chair in between bouts of throwing off my blanket and sweatshirt because I was too hot, to grabbing them right back up because I was freezing. Finally, I said enough was enough. In an attempt to feel better, I took to organizing the DVD's. Dad then joined in, and we had them sorted just the right way- and I realized that if I kept moving (the limited amount I could manage) my nose wasn't as runny. But once we were done, it clogged right back up.

This morning I didn't feel worse, but I didn't feel any better either. I'm still going through the bouts of being cold and hot, but luckily I have no fever. I am noticing, though, it's getting harder for me to breathe- so this may be trying to get in to my lungs. Once I can smell again, Vicks Vapo-Rub is going under my nose. Bacitracin is being applied to heal the red irritation my poor honker is suffering from even though I was using Puffs with extra Aloe! The worst thing about today is that I've lost my voice. Yep, I'm sounding like a croaking frog and a whispering child. This cough I have is dry, but it's just enough of a tickle to drive me batty. The coughing fits have made me lose my voice- so I don't think I'd be heard well on camera. So I'm indulging in Hershey's Dark Chocolate ;) Seriously! Chocolate is good for a sore throat... It's quite a good alternative to cough drops which are full of sugar. Yes.... There is sugar in my chocolate bar too.

Anywho... I just wanted to let you know I'm ok :) And that I might film a silent video later on. But then again... I might just go to bed instead, and save my voice for tomorrow!

Yes, two tutorials done and uploaded within a 24 hour period?!

Yikes! It can be done!!!
So- here it is!

This look was made utilizing 100% mineral eye shadows from Orglamix Cosmetics and it's guaranteed to get plenty of comments and attention! True story: I went out for a little while with one of my best gal pals for her Birthday... And even though I wasn't out very long, I had done the tutorial for this prior to going out... And I said "What the heck. It's on, it looks rad, I'm wearing it tonight."

I had so many people come up and not only compliment my abilities on how to apply makeup so awesomely, but also was asked how much the "tattoos" on my eyes hurt getting done. *Q Laughter- I did!* I couldn't help it. Seriously?! You can't see all the sparkle and glitter on there?!?! Well, either which way.... Rock on!

The original tutorial came out grainy and dark... So this is my first video filmed in my "studio".... aka my bedroom with a new lighting setup. I know, fancy-schmancy right?! I thought for sure this video filmed with a blue hue- which I saw in the reflection of my BIG mirror in front of me- so imagine how delighted I was to come down here and see it filmed true to the actual colors!!! YESSSSS!

So ultimately, I think this look goes down in history as just plain kick ass! Perfect to wear out for a club night, party, or Halloween! All the cosmetics with the exception of Absinthe were purchased by me- I was lucky and won a blog contest and was able to pick the green fairy as one of three colors to choose.

Face: Physicians Formula: Organics Mineral Foundation
Eyes: N.Y.C. duo eyeliner, using black.
Eyes: Wet 'N Wild MegaLength mascara in black.
Leopard Spot Outline: Maybelline's UltraLiner in black.
Glitter: Hard Candy duo glitter/primer in Amethyst.
Lips: Revlon ColorStay in Top Tomato.
Gloss: Burt's Bees in Rhubarb.

Taaaa-daaaaa!!!!!

Get The Look - Caramel-Candy Apple Time!

In a few weeks, I'll actually be able to get one... But for now, I'll settle with this hot eye look ;)

I put a question out there to my Facebookers, and it was up to them to vote what my next eye look was going to be. Not realizing I had already done the Candy Corn Eyes as a surprise look to be revealed, I took the second and third place Candy Winners and created a look so far with one.

Both Candy Apple and Skittles were tied, so... I'll do both. Thusfar, I've done my rendition of Caramel Candy Apple eyes.... Which turned out quite glam, and definitely a look I myself will be re-creating both ways come the cooler weather. (The Skittles look is coming up shortly!) Since Candy Apples are a bright red- I really couldn't see outlining my eyes with red- which would have made me look sick- and applying only another color to highlight, like the inside of an apple. Well, no thanks. I needed more than that. And after reading a comment from a voter about possibly doing a "Candy Apple with Nuts" eye... Well, I thought that if I even so much as dared to try interpreting something like that- I'd be having people asking me what sort of weird eye affliction I have. LOL

I settled on using two warm toned metallic brown shadows which complimented the bright red perfectly. A soft pinkish highlighter blends in wonderfully, and isn't quite as bright as a white shadow would be... So I'd say these shadows are a perfect Autumn Quarted of sugary goodness! (Just don't try to eat them!) The colors used are Scandalous, Milk Chocolate, Swiss Chocolate and Halo- all which are from a wonderful company called My Beauty Addiction. Sherrie was kind enough to send me quite an array of free samples for me to try out, and come up with different looks with. All in all, I've been having a ball!!! Her colors- especially the metallic tones- blend effortlessly and go on like a dream. You certainly can apply the shadows without primer- but when trying to achieve looks with multiple colors, honestly you're better off using an eye primer of some sort. At the moment, I am currently using her handcrafted Shadow-Poxy Primer and I am without a doubt in love with it. The primer goes on smoothly, is virtually weightless, and really holds your shadows in place all day long!!

While it seems this video takes a long time to get this eye look- keep in mind that I'm also talking while showing how the shadows are applied. This means it takes longer for me to do my makeup- because I'm flappin my gums away at everyone LOL. This look, if just done yourself, will take no more than 10 minutes to complete. And I have the intro, and end to say hello and thanks for watching! Extra time of course! It does take a few minutes extra to apply the glitter to your eyes- but I'd say with the way it sparkles- it's well worth "GLITTA-FYING" the look- don't you agree?!

I think either way, this color combination is a winner for my fall wardrobe this year.

I realized yesterday that I haven't been posting pictures, or blurbs on any of the tutorials I've been doing. It was a definite "DOH!" moment of realization.

From now on, I'll post pictures with a small amount of further information than what's already included in the video tutorial. I figure everyone will like a little more information better!

In order to kick-start this off, I'm going back to the beginning. The very first tutorial I've done- which was the look inspired by the Volturi character Jane in New Moon. Actress Dakota Fanning played the pain-inducing vampire and looked eternally beautiful, IMO, and oh so grown up.

Since we as humans don't have red eyes- but can get the effect by purchasing contact lenses- I interpreted the look in a different way than the smoky look she had in the movie. Since I don't exactly have expendable income- or rather, none at the moment, I can't splurge for red lenses. However- I think the eye look I came up with is pretty kick ass. I also realized... This video sucks. LOL. It's ok- you can laugh- because it didn't come out quite right. I was kinda dumb and thought my camera would get the whole skin-tone and light adjustment on its own.... But it didn't.

So I look like a smurf.
Since I'm not normally blue, or purple, I'm going to be kind and re-film this video for all of you. This way- you'll really be able to see the smoky look of the eye- sans purple hue!

The colors used are all from Orglamix and are 100% mineral and good for your skin.
For now, this is what I leave with you... Of course, for the next showing of this same look- I'll give you the detailed bio and behind the scenes tips ;)
I promise it won't be purple-hued either!

For now, I'm off to go edit and post the Caramel-Candy Apple eye look you've patiently been waiting for!

Quick Back Update...

As you know, I've been struggling all week with motivation to get looks done. Coupled with the days getting considerably shorter each and every day- my room turns shadowy very quickly, so I've been frustrated. Anyways... Not the case for the rest of the week and weekend.

I'm determined to get ALL my looks done- which were outlined in the prior post (don't quote me on that!)- and will have the videos up very, very soon. The big computer is occupied all day (stock market) so I don't have a chance to hop on until late afternoon. This is why my vids get posted so late most days.

So... With all that said so far, I wanted to tell everyone just a quick blurb about yesterday. I had another Dr. C appointment, and I woke up completely twisted and kinked the wrong way. He immediately saw the way I was sitting, felt my back, and said "You're tighter than a tight drum... Let's go..."

To make a long story short, I had four nerve blocks done in my back. Each one hurt- especially when he had to map out where the most severely inflamed ones were. I got through it, but not without nearly jumping off the table in agony. I was able to calm myself down, and concentrate on moving forward- progress. Once the blocks were done- it was strange to feel my leg and foot go cold from my hip down, but it was considerably less pain. Immediately went down from a 5 to a 2 on a scale of 1-10. I was wiped out from the pain I had been subjected to in trying to find the dang nerves... So yesterday it was a lazy day. I came home, sat in my chair, and just relaxed. Napped. Didn't move much.

Today, I woke up at the same... Maybe a pain level of 4, and now I'm down to a 2. While I don't have the piercing heat and pain in the right-section above my hip where I'm having the problems, it's a dull aching instead. This is bearable. It's progress in the right direction. I plan to keep on truckin!

I'm hoping this will last longer than the last single block did last time- 6 weeks. They're supposed to last for up to 6 months- so my fingers are crossed that this time, my back will cooperate. Every day will get better... Because I believe it will :)

This is strictly my own personal opinion about the matter. All material uncovered was done through a public google internet search with a few different keyword entries.

Due to information uncovered and revealed about this company, I cannot in good conscience or good faith recommend anyone support this reportedly handmade, organic small business. If information had been disclosed prior to discovery by the shop owner herself, I would have no problem with continuing to purchase. Regretfully, the scope of the lie and how many different people it could have potentially affected and hurt leaves me no other choice than to say this is not an honest company to do business with.

Oopsers Bloopers and Silly Screw Ups!

Yes... That's right. I want the whole world to know just how much of a silly, quirky and utterly at-your-expense jokester I am. I just uploaded the (what I hope is) funny outtakes from multiple video shoots. The good news is that I plan to continue these hilarious outtakes because:

1) I usually forget what I say mid-sentence. It's the artificial intelligence of red dye that covers my natural blonde hair ;)
2) I like razzberries. Especially when I screw up a sentence. I'm surprised I haven't ruined my camera lens yet...
3) I make pretty funny faces. I never realized how silly until I saw some of my clips. Sad faces especially!
4) I've discovered that I think faster than I talk, and my mouth can't keep up resulting in:
5) Making up my own cool language. But I don't understand it, and I can't speak it. It just sort of happens.
6) I'm a firm believer that you need to laugh at least once, every day. And this I hope will provide lots of laughs.

So there you have it... And here's the video!

From The Facebook Peanut Gallery

Well... I figured a quick update was in order.

I did a pretty Pin-Up look the other day, after I had done the Autumn Leaf Peeper Eyes tutorial, and while I like how my still pictures came out- I didn't like the video quality. I made the mistake of filming with a wider angle (since I can always crop it down) and the problem with it was there had been so much light coming in through the window behind me, it made a very annoying lens flare and threw my color off. I've learned my lesson! I think I'll find a sheer curtain to put over that window so I can still get the light, but have it softly filtered and diffused. Goodbye lens flares!

Burnished

There are also a few looks I have lined up... And while I was going to keep it a surprise from you all, I figured I'd share just because I know I'll forget to do some of them. This week- I have a lot lined up, and I plan to make videos for the majority of them.

If you remember, last week I asked all my awesome fans on my Facebook Page to suggest some looks that want to be seen. The first was from Brandalyn to create a "Sugar Skull" face. I'm happy to report, I did a lot of interwebnetz searches, and have found some great inspiration. Yes- I will be painting my entire face with a Sugar Skull theme- and it will also definitely be a video tutorial. Beware- this kind of a makeup job will take a while to complete- so if you do attempt to try this at home, make sure you set aside at the bare minimum an hour of time to complete. I won't be using all mineral makeup for this look- because there are a lot of design elements I want to implement, and with the details I want... I need more than just all natural stuff on my face. Depending on how much I like the look I intend to create, I may even use it as my look for Halloween. We'll see!

The second was from Kelly- and she wants to see Jack-O-Lantern eyes. I used a few of the colors she suggested for the Leaf Peeper tutorial, but I'll do more of a pumpkin look this week too. This one will also be a tutorial. However- I will not be painting my entire face orange, and drawing triangles over my eyes & nose, or making a funny toothed-black smile over my kisser. No- this is an eye look!!

Pot O Gold

A third request is from Rebecca, who suggested a Military inspired look. I have lots of greens, and a few taupe colors I can work with- so this will be interesting to see. I really like it when I'm left to my own creative devices and can come up with looks! Depending on how one eye comes out, I'll most likely make this a video tutorial as well- wow, that makes three!

Hunter

Number four was suggested today by Melanie- inspired by seashells, to use colors on my eyes in that fashion. This should prove to be interesting- because my take on the colors inside seashells differ... There are those, like conch shells, which have a soft pink to coral and white inside. Then again, you can pick up a mussel shell and discover mother of pearl tones with soft blues and purples. Or, the more common scallop shell- which tend to have soft purples and lavenders inside. And you thought choosing colors to work with was easy... Bah! Sometimes for me that's the hardest part- but in the end, it's still all just fun!

Halo

A look I've decided to do will be based upon a dress I'm looking for. I can't find it, but I'm sure it will turn up soon as I'm going through ALL my stuff to locate the blasted thing. Why? It's a ballgown. Seriously why? Because I'm planning on doing a Masquerade inspired look based upon the colors of my gown. It's a very light champagne, and the top bodice portion is beaded. Really- it's gorgeous. I wore it to prom the year after I graduated high school, since I was invited by the same group of friends that had attended with my senior year, and we had a blast. Considering I've also taken off a lot of weight lately, the dress will either again fit me, or be a bit too big. Either way- I'm really bummed I can't find it right now. It's packed, I remember seeing it when I got home... But for the life of me I can't remember where exactly it is I placed it.

Apricot

It'll turn up.

Right now, I'm off to go eat some grilled burgers!

Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater.... Yep, Leaf Peeper Eyes

Wow, that all rhymed. I'm getting pretty good at this... Hah!

Anyways, while I wait for the video to upload to the eternal global network we call the interwebnetz, I figured I'd give you some pictures of the newest look that's I've created and some pictures to go along with it. Oh- and yes- a complete list of the cosmetics I used as well.

Now as most of you know, I have to do my foundation before I go on camera- simply because I don't want to horrify everyone by having the awful black and blue moons under my eyes scare everyone away. It's not that I don't get enough sleep- because there's plenty of that- it's just that I don't really feel rested. So- to spare you the gory visual of that walking nightmare of bags under my eyes- my face is prepped first. I actually cheat a little bit and use eye shadow primer under my eyes- then use my foundation as concealer... Since it stays surprisingly well! Once that's done, I brush the powdered mineral foundation all over my face- and call it good. I mentioned before I use Physicians Formula "Organic Wear", and since my tan has faded.... I'm back to my porcelain, fishbelly white skin again. Hooray.

(I kinda miss my tan... *sighs*)

After my face is done, I fill in my brows. Anything will do- and I simply use a matte brown mineral eyeshadow to fill them in. You can use any sort of powder or pressed color to fill them in, just make sure it's matte and doesn't have any shimmer. You really don't want glittery brows... Unless that's your thing- and if it is, well, cool!

When I hit the camera this time, I used cosmetics from a few different companies I've purchased from.

There are some colors I've used from Cheri of Orglamix in this video- the three used on my lid as colors being Citron, Mandarin and Champagne Toast. Citron is a vibrant, bright yellow that I had to have as soon as I saw it. Mandarin is a cute and juicy orange that's vibrant as well- and it's not one of those oranges you put on and go "Ew. Gross." This is Mandarin- with a soft shimmer! Last up is Champagne Toast, and it's a beautiful neutral color that's got a lot of wonderful shimmery flecks in it. I use it often either as a brow bone highlighter, or as my lid color. Citron and Mandarin were two colors I won as part of a giveaway, and Champagne Toast I had purchased. On my cheeks- Baie Rose. It was part of a separate collection purchase I had made, and even though it's technically an eye shadow- it works wonderfully on the face as a blush as it has a light rose color with a hint of iridescent gold. In the video, you can see that I have a cup of water which I dip my angled brush into. Then I hold up Midnight- a black powder shadow. By wetting the powder, it makes a liquid liner which is then applied to my eyes. Voila!

The beautiful brown color on my eyes is a color called Milk Chocolate, and comes from Sherrie over at My Beauty Addiction. I love this color since no matter how much you blend it down- the metallic never "muddies" or looks odd. Any of the colors made by her which are metallic do not muddy- so sign me up! A little goes a long way- as you will see in the video. She was also very kind to send me free samples to use in creating some of my looks- as you see now. The Shadow Poxy, aka eye primer, I used on my eyes before applying the makeup is also from her and a recent purchase I made. In my personal opinion, this formula works better than UDPP- which I have also used with success. For the pricing, quality and quantity of product though- MBA is the way to go for me from now on! And the lip treatment- well, you can reference that in my Gotta Have It: My Beauty Addiction: Lip Goodies Review post- one free gift, and the lip treatment a surprise one!

I also used an eye crayon which was a glittery, silvery white. I don't know the brand or color name- as the information has been worn off the crayon. My sister left it home... So it has found its way into my collection for occasional use. I used it as a highlighter on my eye to even out the tone, and it also helps the shadows stick a little better since it's slightly creamy once patted on. If I were to take a wild guess, it looks like one of the Cover Girl eye shadow pencils. Of course, we're not forgetting the N.Y.C. eyeliner- which I used to color my upper waterline. Make sure the pencil is smooth and glides on- you definitely don't want to be fighting a color when trying to get it to stay on your upper/lower waterline- use a kohl pencil if you must!

All in all, I think while dramatic- this look is a perfect combination of colors to usher in Autumn... Don't you think?!

I apologize for my awful looking hair. I honestly didn't want to fuss with it- so in a headband and loose ponytail it went. I know you can see my blonde roots- and for that I'm so sorry. I'm getting re-dyed this weekend- back to the insane red I so very much love!
