SNOW!!!!!!

I can finally tell you... We have snow up here in the North Country!

Snow!
Beautiful, white, fluffy snow- covering all the trees. Since it snowed most of the day, I was in quite a bit of pain. For those few of you that know, I have severe back problems which I'm struggling to get fixed. On days it rains or snows, I hurt a lot and I tend to sleep often. Today was no exception.

However, I'm excited to say that we're barreling toward the New Year. Can someone tell me where 2010 went?! It sort of flew by in a rush, and I don't remember half of what I even did this past year! It's like... Whoosh, gone!

Can you believe one stack is only $25 for the Spectrum of Colors!?!?
Of course, this brings up the fact that we're getting days closer to announcing the winner of the huge Moi Minerals Cosmetics Giveaway Contest!!! I know many of you are quite excited about this opportunity to win- especially since it contains such a large amount of makeup at stake!

The picture I made a collage out of is simply to show you some of the products that may be included in this awesome giveaway. This basket will be jam-packed with $50-$100 USD worth of products. Yes, you read that right! If you've seen some of the gift baskets Holly has created previously, you know this will house an awesome amount of products! Typically, her gift sets are deeply discounted and made affordable while still maintaining a professional and beautiful gift which is given. I'm so excited to be hosting this with such a generous friend I've made :)

Super Sale! Bronzer, Mineral Veil, Lip Gloss, Brush & Makeup Bag!

Our motivation for doing this is to inspire each and every one of you!

I myself hope to inspire you to:

Play.
Have fun.
Create.
Imagine!
Step out of your "Comfort Zone".
Feel beautiful.
Boost your confidence.
SMILE!!!!!

I know for me, makeup is my creative outlet. It allows me to play, to create looks which I'd otherwise not think of doing... To lift my mood. If I inspire even just one of you, then I've done my job, and that makes me so very happy!

Keep these looks coming gals- you're all beautiful in your own special way!

And keep your eyes open for more contests!!!

To clarify a few details about the Moi Minerals contest, you can leave your comments on the original blog post found by clicking here or by leaving a comment on my Facebook Page. Either way is acceptable- the important thing is that I find you, and count up your entries! If you become a fan of Moi Minerals on Facebook don't forget to leave a comment on her page that says "The Eyes Have It referred me!"... Since it does of course count as a vote! I'll be checking!

It's ok if eye looks are submitted each day, or if you wait a few days and then share multiples on a day. The holidays have been busy for many people- so I totally understand if you need a little time to play "catch up". As long as entries are posted by midnight PST on January 1st, 2011, each and every entry counts! Even though I'm on the East Coast, I want to be fair to all... And since West Coasters are 3 hours behind... I've changed the rules to allow them also to enter in a timely fashion!

So there you have it!
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask away!

30 days, all in order!

As many of you know, I've spent the past month creating different looks, one each day, and submitting them for Orglamix's 30 days, 30 Ways Contest". This blog post was going to start out with "Vote for ME"...

But I couldn't do that. I tend to think of the big picture. Many of you, my followers, also entered the contest. I haven't cast my vote yet for anyone, but I have a good idea who I'll be rooting for. It will not be myself. That's not only unfair, but I don't think it's right to do. So there's another contestant who I really enjoyed seeing create eye looks- and that girl will receive my vote!

There were so many beautiful, unique and very creative eye looks created by many of us girls- and to think we stuck it out for a whole 30 days! I can't, in good conscience, say "just pick ME because I deserve it"... I think all us gals do. However, there's only one Grand Prize winner.

In an effort to be fair to all the contestants, I ask you to please vote.
Be it for me, or any of the other 15 girls... Take a minute, look at the pictures, and cast a vote for one of us! Of course, I want to win. I'd love to! I won't lie.... I want it so bad I can taste it! Well, not literally of course. I imagine eating minerals would be quite chalky.

But... The other girls want to win as well!

While you're at it... Don't forget to enter the Happy New Year Moi Minerals Giveaway for your chance to win a goodie basket jam-packed with $50-$100 worth of mineral makeup! Kick off your New Year with some awesome, highly pigmented, long lasting mineral makeup! Check out the blog post link for all the details on how to get as many entries into the contest as possible!

The SURPRISE! A Giveaway!

I told you I'd have details for you ladies today!

I am so very pleased to say I'm teaming up with Holly from Moi Minerals Cosmetics to offer you this fabulous chance to win big!!!

What is it?

The Happy New Year Contest!!

This is just a random assortment of goodies from her shop to show you what could be won!
Holly is going to put together a giant goodie basket, stuffed to the brim with all sorts of mineral makeup- eye shadows, lip glosses, blush, lipsticks, eye primer.... And perhaps one would also end up very lucky and have some of the brand spankin' new products that haven't been released yet!

Now to shake it up a bit, and give you the nitty gritty guidelines:

Doing each of the following will get you an entry into the contest- so many ways to get a LOT of entries!

1) Follow my blog. If you're already a follower, just leave a comment below for me identifying yourself so I can cross-reference to Facebook, first name and last initial is sufficient. If you refer someone brand new who follows me, please have them leave a comment below with "___ referred me!". This will get you an additional entry for each person who becomes a new follower and identifies themselves.
Want an extra entry? Who doesn't! Scroll down, and click the link to follow me through Networked Blogs!

2) For the next 12 days, post a picture of your eye makeup to my The Eyes Have It Facebook Page wall. It can be simple, it can be elaborate- remember, just have fun! You can use any cosmetics you have to create your looks. You can list companies and colors you've used as well.
If you post a picture each day, you'll have a total of 12 entries. You can play catch-up if you miss a day or two- so long as all entries are submitted by January 1st 2010 at midnight PST, you're entries will be accepted!

3) Follow me on Facebook. If you're already a follower- invite your friends! Each one that you refer will get you an extra entry- of course, make sure they leave a comment somewhere that says "____ referred me!". If one of the people you suggested my page to refers other followers, entries would then be given to that person. It's a snowball effect!
Please also go and become a fan of Holly on her Moi Minerals Facebook Page to keep up to date on all her current promos, sales, and insider scoops! Tell her that The Eyes Have It sent you, and any comments I see on her page with that phrase will get an additional entry!

4) Do you YouTube?? Come and be a subscriber to my silly channel! Again, leave a comment somewhere- either below or on my FB page with your YT name!

5) Tweet Tweet! I Twitter!! Follow me for another entry!

I will be checking all these places to make sure if you've said you follow all, that you indeed are! Additionally, I'll be keeping a spreadsheet with all entries listed. I'll tally up each of the entries daily, and then use a randomizer to mix the list up.
For instance, if someone ends up with 15 entries, I'll enter their name separately 15 times in the list.
On New Years Day at Midnight PST, I'll tally up the entries, to allow any late entries to be posted, and the winner will be announced on January 2nd.

Kickoff day is today! It's alright if you miss a day- entries can be posted on FB,  Flickr, or a blog- either way I need the link to see where to go look! Just as long as all entries are submitted by New Years Day 2011, you'll have entries into this fabulous contest!

A Festive Christmas Workshop

Today I ended up going with my Mom to the Community Center in town to meet with the Garden Club ladies. Yes, Mom's a member. She thought it would be a good idea for me to venture out today with her- seeing as I really don't leave the house much these days. (The back problem...)

I conceded, and off we went. I thought I was dreaming when Ma came in and woke me up this morning. I rolled over, noticed the kittens all cuddled up on and around me, and snuggled in more with them. I was nearly back to sleep when Mom came back... Darn it! I was tired. But I got up, dressed, threw on some makeup, warm clothes, and off we went. It took me a little while to get ready- I don't exactly move so well in the mornings- my back is so stiff I have to do stretches before I get out of bed. It's limited too- I have to be careful how I move so I don't make it worse. I have to force myself to go out most days... I'm not too motivated these days to leave the house. I just don't have the gumption... So sometimes I make myself get up, dressed, makeup painted on, and out of the house for a while.

After making a few pit stops, we arrived. It was cold, blustery, and I was hoping for snow. They've been forecasting it for days. And for days, I haven't seen so much as a single, lousy flake. The wind was cold and biting, so I hurried as fast as I could to get indoors. Translation: I got cold while making my way to the building and inside. I lucked out- I was summarily seated in a chair which had a cushion, was more comfortable than the folding metal chairs, and had a birds eye view of the entire workspace. I also had the empty table. Score!

After searching through some of the goodies Mom brought with her to craft, I found some pretty ribbon. I swiped it, because I have a craft idea for it. Digging through a bag of ribbons... I hit the jackpot. Now, even when I don't feel particularly 100% (which is the majority of the time) I still paint a healthy face on, put a smile on, and will goof off when I'm able. Look what I found:

Cute huh?! They're red ornament balls which had wire stuck through them, which I bent and hooked over my ears.... My new earrings! I got many a laugh from the ladies coming in from the cold... Doing doubletakes over the enormous balls hanging from my ears! I'm glad they were red... Hahahaha! Mom then decided to give me winter-berry "antlers". I'm a ham, can you tell?

Then a few ladies arrived, and asked if they could sit at my table. Of course, I replied, feel free to do whatever you like! Listening to them talking about how they wanted to make centerpieces- I let them start off. Then a few of them asked if I'd done this before- to which I let slip that not only had I worked for a Florist, Ma did too for a number of years. They were elated! Immediately, asking us what branches were what- a bunch of Balsam, White and Red Pine, Mugho Pine, Blue Spruce, Holly and Boxwood. Asking how to put stems in, how to cut the oasis (green stuff!), how to fill it in but keep it from looking like too much stuff was mashed in there. A really nice woman and I made this little bear "nestled in the woods".

Mom and I got to work- and the ladies did a great job! We pretty much helped with the finishing touches on the about 15 pieces we made- and they came out adorable! A sprinkling of snowball garland, little wrapped gifts, pine cones, white painted branches with iridescent glitter. The star of the show I think was The Nutcracker piece Mom and another woman put together:

One of the other little bears was also nestled in a pretty little piece- they were just absolutely adorable!

There were an amazing array of decorations to choose from. All in all- it was a fun day. The ladies we sat with were so friendly- which can be hard to find at times! We laughed, they helped me out once they realized I wasn't getting around so well, and the soup Mom made for lunch was awesome!

And the best part was... By the time we left, we had flurries. I thought we'd get actual snow... But no. Just flurries. Everywhere else, I've heard, has snow. I'm a little disappointed.

If you see Old Man Winter around- please tell him that Snarky P is looking for him to DUMP a LOT of SNOW here in the valley. Thanks!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and the Warmest Holiday Wishes for everyone out there!

You're probably making the same WTF face I did when I first heard the term. I admit- I started giggling, I had no clue what it meant.... But to me, it sounds dirty. Like one of those words you utter amongst your girlfriends group and you all laugh in a conspiratorial way which garners strange looks from anyone within hearing distance.

Glamping. Hahahaha...
Ok seriously- I found a few seriously side-splitting definitions of this new term thanks to Urban Dictionary:

1.) Shorthand for glamorous camping; luxury camping:
I ain't sleepin' in no tent! For real, I'm goin' glamping!
2.) Glamorous camping. Satisfying your craving for the outdoors and your penchant for a good meal, nice glass of wine, and a comfortable bed.
No stinky sleeping bags on the hard ground, and freeze-dried food for me. If it's not a Glamping trip, count me out.
And my personal favorite:
3.) Glamorous camping; when rich bitches can pay someone to do all the work for them
"Oh Heathcliffe dear, I'm ever so glad we are glamping this weekend. By the way, is the butler done catching our trout?"

Um... Seriously?!?! I'm not able to camp right this second because a) it's COLD here in New England and b) bad back issues prevent me from having any sort of real fun right now.... But I'm all for throwing a tent into the back of my SUV, packing one cooler full of beer, another full of soda and alcohol, another full of beer, an extra one full of ice, another cooler with extra beer, an air mattress, maybe a couple fishin' poles and bait, and a shotgun in case a pesky bear, coyote or raccoon ventures into camp. (Of course, I've never been camping where a gun is used- it just helps to sleep next to one. Bear claws can go right through nylon...) I think that's it as far as packing. Oh wait.... I feel like I'm forgetting something...

I never thought the minimal makeup I dragged along with me would be considered a glamorous trait. Whatever- it's quick, easy, and I'm done in less than 5 minutes. (The video, again, is long because I blab!) The great perk of using only mineral makeup (which I didn't do concerning the concealer and tinted moisturizer- but they're light enough they won't clog my pores or make me break out) is that the minerals won't force your skin to react horribly and sneaking one mother Vesuvius on your chin that's going to erupt... After forming miraculously overnight somehow. Well, more than likely, if you're like me... It was during the early early morning sleep.... Because drinking and hanging out goes hand in hand with staying up late- very late.... Again, not an activity I could enjoy this past summer. Next one, I plan to make it all up! So if any of you chicks wanna plan a Glamping trip with me, leave a comment below! LOL
Yours truly, making a really weird face.

Mineral makeup tends to stay where it's put. Foundation does need to be redone, but all in all, eye makeup typically stays put. Sweet and simple looks- all you need to do is a touch up!
Face Ingredients:
e.l.f. Tinted Moisturizer
(I forgot color, I'll add after)
e.l.f. Concealer
PF: Organics Mineral Foundation in Translucent Light

Espresso & Champagne Toast

The Eyes Have It:
100% Mineral Eye Products
Orglamix Cosmetics:
Magnetism Eye Primer
Champagne Toast
Espresso
Ginger Blush
WNW Black Kohl Eyeliner
WNW MegaLength Mascara

Stay sexy, stay as sweet as you can... And remember- the wild outdoors isn't nearly as scary as you think! Camping is fun!!!!

Oh yeah.... I remembered what I felt I was forgetting. You have to pack food too!! Sustenance is key! Just remember to lock up all your food in the vehicles before going to bed. The wild animals will try and get it if you leave it out.

Giggles and laughs tonight to you all!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I wanted to take a moment today to tell everyone... Happy Thanksgiving!

This is in fact one of my favorite holidays- it ties with Christmas. Halloween is my #1. It seems lately, however, that as soon as the Halloween decorations get set up in the stores- one aisle over has a few Christmas items. It seems day by day, that one little contained area with a few Christmas items grows... It multiplies overnight. They seem to breed like rabbits, and before you know it.... An entire aisle has now been overtaken. And the Halloween items hunker together, desperately trying to keep the Christmas items at bay until after October 31st. Certain times it works, and others.... Well the poor Halloween costumes and accessories are just moved and cluttered into one little half-aisle and put on sale. How very sad.

Now that I think about it, the Halloween items seem to disappear no later than November 2nd. Poof!!! They're gone! No matter how stupid, silly, wrecked or gaudy the items may be.... There's never a trace left- a CSI crew could do a trace workup on the sections of the shop and not even find a single clue the Orange and Black holiday inhabitants were ever even there. Looking around, you find yourself in Narnia Ok, not that extreme- but you're walking through a winter wonderland of Christmas goodies, knick knacks, ornaments, accessories, scary lawn blow up figures, and The Grinch.

I digress. My point being is as a child, I remember three separate holidays. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. They used to be individual- but it seems we have Christmas promotions, deals and items being put up on shelves earlier and earlier each year. At this rate- I'm tempted to tell the stores just don't ever take your Christmas section of the store out. But I would really like to see Halloween items up for a few days past the holiday. I'd like to see Thanksgiving and Harvest items in their own section of the store, to be celebrated.

I'm thankful for my family, for all we are, and do for each other.
I'm thankful I have two wonderful parents, who've been my ultimate role models. For everything they've given us children, for all they've sacrificed for us- I am grateful.
I'm thankful for the two sisters, and the brother I have. Being the oldest- I look back on all these years, all these holidays- and I wonder where the time has gone. From when we used to make construction paper cut-outs of Indian and Pilgrim costumes, to Harvest crafts.... And now this year, where all but my brother are here together. He's here in spirit, and will be home for Christmas. My siblings are my best friends.
I'm thankful for all my friends- those who I know from my younger days, from college, from living in various states and through a multitude of jobs. From the many friends I've met through here- online. Each of you have touched me in a way, and I'm so glad I have you as friends.

So here's to Turkey Coma's, having funny conversations at the dinner table, eating homemade pies and having some relative pinch your cheeks as they say hello. I'm thankful that we're here, together.

Happy Thanksgiving my dear friends!!

Yesterday's look was a bit on the dramatic side... Ok, ok... More like definitely dramatic. What can I say?! I love drawing attention to my eyes, and I love sparkles. So it kind of makes sense that I'd want to do a dark look on my eyes, right?! Right!

It's gothic with a twist. I kept my lips fairly nude. But my eyes... Wowza! The tutorial is below for you to check out!

For me, having bold eyes is fun. It's a way for me to express my feelings for the day- whether it be fun, silly, quirky, or sullen. Yes- we all have gray days. Yesterday it was Danger for some reason. I don't know why... I just felt dark, full of emotion... And craving glitter. A poll on my Facebook Page revealed the color I would be using: Purple.

What's on my face:

Nivea Moisturizing Cream

e.l.f. Complexion Perfection
(under eyes, around nose, chin)

e.l.f. Concealer & Highlighter Wands
(cover blemishes, highlight nose & temples)

PF: Organics Mineral Foundation

The Eyes Have It with Orglamix Mineral Cosmetics:

Magnetism
Eye Primer

Fig

Grape Hyacinth

Pink Twinkle Effects

Vanilla Birthday Cake

Finishing Off:

Silvery-White Creme Eye Shadow Stick
(off brand, not sure which? Applied after primer, before Fig)

Wet 'N Wild Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Black

WNW Gel Eyeliner in Black

Fantasy Makers (WNW) Silver Glitter Eyeliner

WNW MegaLength Mascara in Black

Cheeks have Baie Rose dusted on them (Orglamix)

Lips have e.l.f.'s Minty Lip Gloss in New York City mixed with Baie Rose.

There's the look! While this isn't quite a look for the faint of heart, if you're looking for a change- this definitely fits the bill! It's fun, it's glittery and sparkly, and you'll get lots of compliments for certain!

Thanks for stopping by as always!

I'm on a kick here with incorporating some dark into my looks... So it's a pinup look, with a darker, sexier twist!

I wanted a pretty, shimmery look that wasn't the basic nude-toned colors typically seen with a Pin Up Girl's face. So I picked a berry color.... Specifically, Cranberry! I raided my stash to make sure I had all I needed to put this together... And so I did. Watch below:

There you have it! The look is quick and simple!
Wear it to work (with lighter lips), and darken up the lips for a sexy evening style!

On My Face:
Nivea Soft Moisturizing Cream
e.l.f. Complexion Perfection
e.l.f. Concealer (over blemishes) & Highlighter (applied to cheekbones)
Too Faced Illuminating Foundation Wand in London Fair
e.l.f. High Definition Powder

The Eyes Have It with Orglamix Cosmetics Mineral Eye Shadow Colors in:
Vanilla Birthday Cake
Champagne Toast
Cranberry
Wet 'N Wild Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Black
WNW Gel Eyeliner in Black
WNW MegaLength Mascara

This is strictly my own personal opinion about the matter. All material uncovered was done through a public google internet search with a few different keyword entries.

Due to information uncovered and revealed about this company, I cannot in good conscience or good faith recommend anyone support this reportedly handmade, organic small business. If information had been disclosed prior to discovery by the shop owner herself, I would have no problem with continuing to purchase. Regretfully, the scope of the lie and how many different people it could have potentially affected and hurt leaves me no other choice than to say this is not an honest company to do business with.

For information as to why, you can read more below:

Another sports team has been created!

Well, on my eyes at least! This latest request comes from Melanie and Paola, and is dedicated to Lexi! Whilst orange and teal are colors that certainly don't look attractive together (think of their uniforms... eek!) they certainly can, and will, work on the eyes!

So here we go.... Grabbing a few colors, we paint with our brushes! Priming your eyes before putting on shadows helps for a number of reasons:

1. The colors stay put
2. There is no creasing
3. Minimal blending of colors (where they meet, if not blended together)
4. No "runny" makeup- as in melting off your face

This is great, especially taking into consideration where you watch football games:
1. A Stadium
2. A Sports Bar (21+ only please!!)
3. Your living room

There are various factors which come in to play in each setting which could help your makeup run off your face unless... Namely, your eye shadows.

Stadiums- they can be indoors or out. If you're out, you hope you don't get rained out.... Snowed out... Or even worse- furnace blasting hot, converting your once perfect face into a melting waxy mess of color. Bad bad bad! When you apply foundation which is liquid based, always finish by setting your makeup with a translucent or High Definition powder. This locks your carefully created porcelain finish into staying that way. The same thing goes for eye shadows- the eyelid primer you use essentially locks your eye colors in place. And, of course, always use waterproof mascara if you're going to be outside or at a bar- you never know when it's going to rain... Or when a beer fight's gonna break out.

Now that we have the ground rules established, see how to create the look below!

Face Off:
Nivea Soft Moisturizing Cream
e.l.f. Concealer
Too Faced Illuminating Foundation in London Fair
e.l.f. High Definition finishing powder

The Eyes Have It:
Moi Minerals Cosmetics Mineral Eye Shadow in Drifter.
Orglamix Cosmetics Mineral Eye Shadows in Mandarin and Vanilla Birthday Cake
Wet 'N Wild Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Black
WNW Gel/Creme Eyeliner in Black
WNW MegaLength Mascara in Black

Finishing the Look:
e.l.f. Super Glossy Lip Shine in Candlelight

There you have it- knockout team colors Eye Look for the Miami Dolphins!
This one's for you Lexi!

Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!

Let's hear it for purple, orange and white! Yes, they can be worn together! And I show you how!

This was a request from Relynn over on my Facebook Page where I asked anyone interested to post their favorite Team Names and Colors in the Forum found underneath the "Discussions" Tab. I'm going to try and do these in order, so if there are multiple teams- what I'm going to do is one first, then go to the next person's inquiry, and then perhaps come back every few teams or so.... Just to be fair!

Anyways- if you want to see your team colors in a color combination on my eyes, go leave your info! Clemson University Football here we come! I dove in with three of the best representative colors in my collection that can easily be had- and they're listed below. In addition, I'm using brushes from e.l.f. which include the "C" Brush, the Blending Brush, The Crease Brush, and The Small Precision Brush.

Bright and bold colors, but subtle enough that it's not over the top for drama factor. This is one combination I just might end up wearing one day because I feel like it- the colors made my eyes really pop and I love how they shimmered and sparkled. Let's get to the good stuff!!

Face Off:

Nivea Soft Moisturizing Cream

e.l.f. Complexion Perfection

e.l.f. Concealer

Too Faced Illumination Foundation Wand in London Fair

Physicians Formula: Organics Mineral Foundation in Translucent

The Eyes Have It:

Orglamix Cosmetics Mineral Eye Shadows in:

Acai Berry

Mandarin

Vanilla Birthday Cake

Wet 'N Wild Gel Eyeliner in Black

WNW MegaLength Mascara in Black

WNW Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Black

Finishing Touches:

e.l.f Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Bark

Orglamix Blush in Ginger

With all that done- I'm ready for the chips and dip! How about you??
