Late Nails - Saint Patrick's Day Green

Yep, I know... I'm way behind the 8 ball on this one... But seriously, with everything that's happened in the past week, it's been hectic... I've hardly been home due to a family emergency... And yeah. Needed to catch my breath after all the back and forth between places. Luckily, things are slowly getting back to some semblance of normal, and it's looking good!! Remember- click on the photos to enjoy maximum sparkling polish goodness!!!!!!!

Anywho, I did get my paws on some new Sinful Colors polishes just in time for "Kiss Me I'm Irish" day. Yes, that's right... I picked up Irish Green, and the now highly sought after Green Ocean. I wanted my nails to positively scream as I entered a room. And oh baby, did they!! Going back and forth to see Mom, nearly each lady that saw my nails asked what color I was wearing. It was incredible... It must have been about 2 dozen total.

Nothing special was done with these nails. First off, yes. They are my natural ones!! They're never looked so good!! And I plan to keep it going!
Nails:

Orly Bonder Rubberized Base Coat

Three coats Irish Green
Since I'm rather new to the "polish blogging world", I've only recently discovered that nail polishes have all sorts of descriptions to illustrate to people exactly how they wear. From what I can tell, this particular color would be identified as a "jelly". Why? This green is bright and intense- but as you can tell in some of the photos, you can still see some of my natural nails through the polish- even with three coats applied. When the polish dries, it holds that "wet look" and is a pretty transparent color.

Green Ocean
I believe this color needs no introduction... Well, perhaps it does.
A watery green glitter polish, with large flecks of iridescent green and blue flakies, smaller green glitter... And oh my gosh just one of the most awesome colors I've yet to encounter.

Manicure finished off with Seche Vite top coat!

I loved the fact that my nails announced my presence into a room, not to mention that they kind of reminded me of Kryptonite. No, I didn't run into Superman anywhere, but if I do, I'll be sure to have these nails if I do! Certainly a combination of colors I'll soon again wear.... But next time, I'll check to see if they glow in the dark!

Tell me... Are you Green with Envy yet? And to think- this is my first mani in weeks that I haven't done any nail stamping with!!

Moi Minerals Vault - Glassy Lady : Quick Makeup for Chicks Who Wear Glasses

I admit it... Finally! I wear them!
I know I don't often wear them, but here you see me in all my square-framed glory. And I have to admit- I kinda love my glasses! I don't wear them often because I'm not in class and no longer need to see a blackboard, I don't really drive yet, and usually what I need is on my lap... Aka, the computer.

This has been a request for some time in order to do this look. It can be difficult to find a happy-medium when putting eye makeup on and having to wear lenses. This one is a toned town, more natural look to start it off easy. I look back on some photos of me in glasses, and let me tell you... You can tell I didn't care that my eyeliner was wayyy too dark and I looked like a raccoon. Whoops! The point of doing makeup behind lenses is to accentuate and draw attention to the eyelids (not the glasses!) and the last thing we want to do is make it appear like we have small, beady eyes.

It's as easy as 1-2-3! Watch the tutorial above to see exactly how I did it!

On my face:
Stila Petal Infusions Moisturizing Cream
e.l.f. Concealer & Highlighter
Physicians Formula: Organics Mineral Foundation

On my eyes:
Moi Minerals Cosmetics Eye Shadows in:
Angel Eyes, Raze & Sage Rage
Valentine was used as blush & mixed with balm on my lips

Wet 'N Wild ColorIcon Black and White Kohl Eyeliner
WnW MegaEyes Gel Eyeliner in Black
WnW MegaPlump Mascara

Basically, Angel Eyes is applied to the entire eye area with a "C" brush from e.l.f.- from lid to brow bone and blended in lightly. Swipe a little bit along your bottom lash line to highlight your eyes.

Raze is applied with a contoured eye shadow brush to the outer half of the lids, and with whatever is left on the brush, it's applied to the outer third-to-half of the lower lid.

Sage Rage is picked up on an e.l.f. Crease Brush and applied to the crease area only, and outer "V" of the eye. Using an e.l.f. Blending Brush, lightly blend out the green upwards toward the brow bone. This will feather the color to be very subtle, but still provides definition to the eyes. Taking a flat eyeliner brush, pick a little of Sage Rage up and apply it to the bottom three-quarters of the lashline.

Tightline your upper lid with black kohl liner (line underneath your lashes, it's your upper waterline), line your bottom waterline in white kohl eyeliner. Grabbing the straight brush again, pick up a little of Sage Rage and apply it over the white liner- carefully! Don't poke your eye!

Next, grab an angled eyeliner brush and gel eyeliner. Working the color into your lashes only, and starting mid lid, lightly line your eyes. The closer you stay to your lashes, the more natural this will look. By working the color into your lashes, it will fill them in and make them appear darker and fuller. I picked up Sage Rage with a flat eyeliner brush, and used it to both set the gel liner and create an iridescent color. It's quite beautiful- it doesn't lighten the black liner completely- it still keeps it's depth- but it softens the color just enough and creates a pretty iridescent and custom liner! Curl, apply mascara, and go!

And there you have it! Quick & Easy!
Of course, this doesn't have to be worn by only gals who wear glasses!

Do you wear them??

Get The Look - Peacock Inspired Eyes I

Updated 03/05/2011 & 03/06/2011

This is strictly my own personal opinion about the matter. All material uncovered was done through a public google internet search with a few different keyword entries.

Due to information uncovered and revealed about this company, I cannot in good conscience or good faith recommend anyone support this reportedly handmade, organic small business. If information had been disclosed prior to discovery by the shop owner herself, I would have no problem with continuing to purchase. Regretfully, the scope of the lie and how many different people it could have potentially affected and hurt leaves me no other choice than to say this is not an honest company to do business with.

For information as to why, you can read more below:

It's been a long few weeks... And I know you gals have been super-patient waiting for this vid to arrive... And I appreciate you sticking around waiting for it!

This is the first in a peacock inspired series- there are literally so many different ways these colors can be worn, combined and accented that I'll put together a bunch for you! Next up you're likely to see another sports team... I gotta get crackin on those babies!

I've always been fascinated by birds with iridescent feathers, and unique patterns. These include (strangely enough) Blue Jays, Mallard Ducks, Peacocks, Pheasants and many other birds. Up here, when I was little, a guy a town over used to keep the birds in pens in his yard. People would stop and park on the side of the road- and the birds, true to their character, would usually be persuaded to show their colors. Not by intimidation of course- but they loved the attention they would get. I think the walnuts helped too... Ha ha ha! I remember stopping with my Grandfather too, many times. Oh- it's the good memories!

Without any further ado, I give you Peacock Eyes!

On My Face:
Nivea Soft Moisturizing Cream
e.l.f. Complexion Perfection
Physicians Formula Organics: Mineral Foundation in Translucent Fair
e.l.f. High Definition finishing powder

On My Eyes:

Orglamix Cosmetics in order of application:
Magnetism Eye-Primer (topped with a pat of the high definition powder)
Snow (on browbone)
Acai Berry on lid only
Lavande applied over AB, and blended
Celadon applied above the crease and blended into Snow, pulled down to crease. Touch more applied
Aegean applied to crease, blended well with Celadon, lightly blended with purples, and more applied
Solar applied to inner corner of eye, blended lightly with purples and into Aegean
Solar applied to inner 1/3 of bottom lashline
Lavande applied to outer 1/3 of bottom lashline
Celadon applied to middle of bottom lashline, blended into other two colors lightly

Wet 'N Wild Black Kohl Eyeliner applied to upper and lower waterlines
Aegean applied to bottom lashline with straight eyeliner brush
Wet 'N Wild Gel Eyeliner in black applied to upper lashline
Curl eyelashes, and I applied Wet 'N Wild MegaPlump mascara in 2x coats

Cheeks are finished by sweeping Orglamix's Mineral Blush in Ginger across the hollows of my cheeks and upper cheekbones. Lips have e.l.f's Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Candlelight applied.

Done!

What do you think?
This look is quite toned down due to the lighting- it's quite a bit more intense in person than pictures show! The glitters that catch in the sunlight are gorgeous- so please, don't be mislead by the pictures!

Get the Look - Iridescent Bubbles Upon My Eyes

I remember being a kid, and getting a new bottle of bubbles each summer. I'd sit in the sunshine in my backyard, and try to make the biggest one possible with my little wand. Careful concentration, along with quick breaths were key.... And before you knew it, I'd have a sparkling, shimmering bubble reflecting all sorts of rainbow colors in the sunlight.

For a while, I was so enamored with them, during a trip to a Science Museum, I stayed at the bubble table while everyone continued on. Finally realizing I wasn't with them, one of the chaperons came back and found me still playing. Lucky for me, I didn't get into trouble. I was mesmerized with the tiny bubble clumps, each one having a different iridescent reflection- but all of them with the same colors. To me, they were magic. They still are!

When my friend Mary posted this song to my profile, along with a request to do create a look which was light, airy and colorful. This is also one of my favorite songs, from one of my all time favorite movies! I mean come on- what girl wouldn't want a pair of ruby red, glittery shoes?

I scooped up some colors, and quickly got to work. A little color here, a little color there... And soon upon my eyes danced the same colors one would find when looking at the surface of a bubble! I think out of all my looks, this one is one of my top 5. It just reminds me so much of being a kid- and sitting in the sun blowing bubbles. Or even better- near a bubble machine, so as they popped out into the air, they felt like butterflies alighting on your skin as they popped.

For a little extra shine, I glued on a 2mm and a 4mm crystal on the inner and outer corners of my eye. With the application of fantasy lashes in magenta, it really upped the look to the next level of pretty. More glitter, more sparkle- gotta love it! Of course, if worn to work you wouldn't want to add the extra glitteries and lashes.... But for a night out, or a Halloween look.... You can't go wrong!

In order to blend the colors, you want to make sure you have a fluffy brush that will not wipe all the color off your lids. If the brush is too dense, it will do such. By using a fluffy brush, it will evenly distribute the colors and gradually blend the colors out softly without wiping it off completely. The brush I'm using is from e.l.f. and is the Blending Brush. You can also use the e.l.f. Crease Brush to blend- however, it's considerably smaller than the blending brush, so it may take a little more time to achieve the soft gradient blends. As with any look, if a color goes on too sheer- blend it out as if it were the color you wanted. Go back for a little bit more, and continue alternating between the blending and adding color until you achieve the pigment you want.

Remember- have fun!
