Konadicure - Did the Cat Eat the Fish?!

Well, this past weekend was pretty tough for me, so I figured my nails this week would somehow have to incorporate kitties into them. While the pros of my travel were finding out my back can at least handle (to some degree) a rather long ride without totally spazzing out on me, and seeing one of my best childhood friends and my god-daughter (her little girl), and seeing two friends who are very dear to me who also live down in CT, the cons were I gave up two of my little kittens!

Now those of you that know, we have 5 cats already. There's Mitts, the 18 1/2 year old gray Maine Coon, Balls the totally black boy and Ratcat who's his sister, and a pretty sandy colored tiger, who are 10 1/2, and Hobbes who's a big spotted Tabby Tom Cat who's gray, black and white. They mostly get along, except when Balls chases his sister, or Hobbes decides to... Or when Balls and Hobbes decide they're going to prove who's the owner of the house. There's no doubt about it. Mitts is the King. All he needs to do is raise a mighty double-paw and plunk it on the head of whatever cat decides to bother him. Ha ha ha! However, when I came home back in Spring, I brought my little cat Peeps with me. She's the 1 1/2 year old kitty who is a Patchwork Tabby Calico girl, with quite an attitude. She's quite sweet, but doesn't really care for the other cats much. The pictures which follow are from our journey down to CT, and back home to NH! They all did so well during the ride!!!

However- she liked Hobbes enough to um... Well, I'll just say it. They had kittens in October!
(do not worry, neutering and spaying is in their near future)
Peeps had 4 "Little Doobies", as I'd affectionately nicknamed them, and I've had them in tow since then. Due to the fact that they hadn't weaned by 8 weeks old, and Christmas had come barreling down the expressway... I held on to them a little longer. Then, due to scheduling and stuff, I kept them longer. So, I've had my "babies" for 17 weeks- and now they're in new homes!

Honestly, I didn't know which of the boys my two friends in CT would choose, though I knew they are parents to an orange cat currently. Whoosh- no help, considering both boys are orange! Little Dude is dark, and Dane is peachy.  Dane earned his nickname after the comedian Dane Cook, who declared because he liked Transformers, he wanted to name one of his children "BbbbbrrrrRRRRRRReeeeeHHHHH!". Yes, the little kitty loves to talk- and he used to greet me every morning with a twitter!! While he doesn't typically like to be picked up by a human, whenever one sits down... He has to curl up and take a catnap with them. He's so affectionate, and it just made my heart swell even more for this little guy! He was the one chosen by my friends, and his new parents have re-named him with one which suits him beautifully- JB Westen 007. He's a super-cat spy! Quite fitting indeed!

Next up was my little cuddle bug sweetheart going, and her nickname was Sweetie. Guess why!? I do, however love her new name- because she's so dang cute! Love-Bug is now Precious <3 She loves chin rubs, cuddles, anything soft and snuggly, and has a purring motor that would put a jet to shame. I never in a million years thought I'd get a snowball-kitten from Peeps, since she's a calico. But you guessed it... I had two white girls with black ears and tips! The best thing was they both kept their pretty blue eyes!! As they get older, their colors are coming out more- and Precious has a lot of coloring on her face. I nicknamed her "Gremlin" for a little while, because she looks like one ha ha ha! I love the coloring on her face- black, tan and orange! She also does the cutest little butt "raise" when you reach down to pet her... Head butts, and her rear end goes up! I know her new Mommy wouldn't do this, but as much as Precious suits this kitten to a T, I can't help but imagine her skipping around her condo and in a funny Golem voice saying "My Preciousssssss! Oh, my... My Preciousssssss!" LOL And of course, I imagine the sweet little kitten would either run and hide... Or join her! Ha ha ha!!!

Little Dude came home with me, and I'm working on convincing someone to let me keep him. He's missing his siblings- he wanders the house at night looking for them, then comes in to me with a look on his face like "Ok, game's over! Where's my brother and sisters?" He's been super-cuddly and affectionate, but then again... That's his nature. He's got a great disposition and is definitely an Omega cat. Easy going, just like our Old Man Mitts. He loves to purr, loves to be around people (except when he naps during the day), attacks any toys he can literally get his paws on... And in general, is just an absolute awesome kitten. He's nearly as big as his mother- so I think he's going to be one big boy!!!

So yeah, that's my story about this past weekend- so I'm feeling a bit "child-less" without my kittens! I miss them... But I know they're in new homes where their parents absolutely adore them!!! I woke up in a panic Monday night, thinking my kittens escaped my room and I'd have to round them up. Once I woke a little more, I remembered I no longer have them. But there was Little Dude, at my feet, curled up and comfy. He felt me kind of roll over with a start, and he got up, nuzzled me under my chin, and curled up against my belly under the covers, cuddled and purred until I fell asleep. Peeps also joined me, up near her favorite spot  on "her" side of the bed. (aka, what would belong to another human, but doesn't) So as an ode to my kittens... I did my nails in Kitties and Fish-Bones!

Hope I didn't bore you with my cat story!

* All products used have been purchased by me.

** I was quite disappointed with this application of polish. I painted my nails Monday, and three of my tips chipped yesterday... Most of my nails today have chipped and lifted polish which have the WnW color, which I'm bummed about. Sadly, I'm removing them tonight. But that means a new design! I really like this soft gold. *shrugs* Oh well. Win some, lose some.

Totally Awesome Konadicure!

I know I haven't made a video about it yet, but I've posted a couple pictures to show you what I've been up to lately. Well, since I received my Konad stamping kit and Bundle Monster Stamping Plates almost 3 weeks ago, I've been having a ball!

Typically, when I give myself a manicure.... I'm lucky if it lasts 2 days without chipping. Tip wear, chips, cracks, and feeling like I have "thick polish" on my nails drives me batsh!t crazy. What to do?!

Well, normally... I sit there and pick at the crack or chip. And it gets bigger. So I pick some more. We all know that once a hole emerges, there's no going back. No smoothing out the edges of the polish again, unless you go back and paint the nail all over again. Oh what a hassle!

And now a Public Service Announcement:

My apologies for my awful cuticles, and scaly skin. I've been going through a dry skin bout, and working on getting it healed up! It takes a little while of course.

That being said, can you believe that awesome violet-pink is one and the same purple in all these pictures!?!?! Yes, it is! And one of my absolute favorites in my entire collection!

Who has this must have polish? Why, Sinful Colors of course! Dream On is this great color I've used...  Two coats, over a base coat, and the color is vibrant and silky. This is actually a matte nail polish- aka it doesn't dry with a high-gloss, wet-look finish. Funny story- the first time I put this polish on, I thought something was wrong with it. I rolled it to mix for about 10 minutes straight. I seriously thought it wasn't mixed well enough.... I guess epic blonde moments still happen!

I've been dying to do different patterns on each nail, but have been having a difficult time deciding what I wanted to do. I was going to do only two "focal nails" with Dream On, but I wanted more color. So I decided alternating nails would have to do. For the black, I used Sinful Colors What's Your Name. For a black polish, this one caught my eye because of the micro-glitter it has. It's flecked with gorgeous peacock holo-glitter, so there's some great tones of purple, green and blues in it. I'm watching this application, since I've only worn it once before.... And it chipped like hell the second day I had it on. You guessed it, I picked it off. I seem to have a better base coat, and I now use Seche Vite top coat for my mani now.

Once my base colors were applied, I topped them off with a coat of Seche Vite.
With the black polish, I used a Sally Hansen Silver Chrome with the Argyle pattern on Konad plate M60. On my right thumb and left pointer finger, I tried to use the flowers with Konad Special Polish  in Gold-Black over the Argyle pattern, but it didn't show up very well. It's sort of like a shadow- I kind of dig it!
With the violet-pink polish, I used the polka dot stamp from Monster Bundle plate BM19 in KSP Gold-Black, then stamped partial portions of the swirl design on BM12 over it using the SH Silver Chrome polish. I topped 'er off with another coat of SV, and we're lookin pretty darn good if I do say so myself!

I didn't quite like the last mani I did, so I'm not showing you!

This isn't bad for the 4th time I've done stamping, is it?! Proof how easy it is!!

Nailing It!

I've recently discovered there's an alternative way to produce awesome looking nail art:

1) Without spending a fortune at a salon
2) Without having to learn how to operate an airbrush
3) Doesn't have the mess of little nail brushes and bottles of paint
4) No stencils to place on nails

What is this craziness you're asking? I'll tell you my not-quite "secret"...
It's my brand new Konad Nail Art System goodies. I found out about Konad through one of my facebook fan pages- a fan had posted a beautiful picture of her nails... Of course, her nail polish was a custom color made from clear polish and mineral eye shadow. What caught my eye was the highly detailed, and nearly perfect outline of a bow on each finger. And since I'm the type of girl who has to know what the latest and greatest products are, I was intrigued. I could tell these weren't airbrushed stencils. Oh no. Look below, that's certainly no airbrush work there!

I went on a hunt.to find out what made that precise print on her nails. A stamp, who would have thought?! Certainly not I! An ingenious way to transfer wet nail polish to your digits without blurring or messing up the design? Really?! Yes! Give it to me! Well, not so fast.... I used a gift card I received for Christmas to make my purchases. After some hunting around, I found some great deals on Amazon for nail art supplies and goodies. While I was there, I also came across a different company who also makes image plates for a deal.

After spending hours on YouTube watching tutorials (hey, a girl's gotta investigate, right?!) and how both Konad's Special Polish and regular old nail polish will work (based upon what you have in mind to create...), scouring eBay, Amazon, Bonanza, and other online shops for deals on image plates, and dreaming of what I would do first on my digits... I finally settled on ordering some products from Amazon since they had the best deals of what I could find. A full review of all these products I've purchased will come after I do my nails once more.

To get started, I knew I needed the Konad stamper. Decisions, decisions. There are a few different types available for purchase, but I decided the best "bang for the buck" would be their Double Ended Stamper and Scraper Set. The reason being is it as both a large and small stamping circle- this allows the large end to be used to apply full nail patterns and large designs. Of course, the smaller end is used for little designs, and helps take the guesswork of where the image is being stamped on your nail. Aka- more control!

In another order, I picked out three items from a seller with really great prices. First, I wanted to have at least one Konad image plate to try out, so I ordered M60. It features full nail prints of an argyle pattern, gradient dots, an abstract flower print, and a plaid line graphic. It also has two smaller flower prints with simple lines.

I also bought a bottle of their "Special Polish", which I had noticed from online research is quite thick. You do not want to apply these colors to your nails as regular polish- they will not dry!!!

The last product in this order was Seche Vite top-coat, which in many forums and opinions I found to be the top-coat of choice in lieu of Konad's one. While you can purchase either or, it seemed that neither of these smudge the Konad Special Polish when applied.

Last, but certainly not least, was the Bundle Monster Nail Art 21pc Image Plate set I picked up. Again- I'm not writing a review just yet, but I will say that while the plates aren't as detailed as Konad's, the amount paid for this bundle of plates makes it well worth the money paid. There are many designs which are usable on the plates, and the point is to just have fun.... Right?!

Well... I applied a rubberized base coat...
2 coats of Sinful Colors polish in Forget Now
Top coat of Seche Vite
Konad Special Polish in Black-Gold (gold shimmer in black polish) used with argyle print on M60
Bundle Monster nail plates- snowflakes, stars, hearts and love (I'll get plate numbers in a bit!) over argyle print
Sally Hansen Chrome nail polish in Silver
Top coat of Seche Vite

I cleaned up the "mess" from the stamps, because of course the patterns didn't stick to just my nails, with some acetone on a q-tip/cotton swab.

Taaaa-daaaaaa!!!!

My awesome nails!
Not bad for first time stamping, huh?! Yes- it really is that easy!!
