Happy Thanksgiving!

I wanted to take a moment today to tell everyone... Happy Thanksgiving!

This is in fact one of my favorite holidays- it ties with Christmas. Halloween is my #1. It seems lately, however, that as soon as the Halloween decorations get set up in the stores- one aisle over has a few Christmas items. It seems day by day, that one little contained area with a few Christmas items grows... It multiplies overnight. They seem to breed like rabbits, and before you know it.... An entire aisle has now been overtaken. And the Halloween items hunker together, desperately trying to keep the Christmas items at bay until after October 31st. Certain times it works, and others.... Well the poor Halloween costumes and accessories are just moved and cluttered into one little half-aisle and put on sale. How very sad.

Now that I think about it, the Halloween items seem to disappear no later than November 2nd. Poof!!! They're gone! No matter how stupid, silly, wrecked or gaudy the items may be.... There's never a trace left- a CSI crew could do a trace workup on the sections of the shop and not even find a single clue the Orange and Black holiday inhabitants were ever even there. Looking around, you find yourself in Narnia Ok, not that extreme- but you're walking through a winter wonderland of Christmas goodies, knick knacks, ornaments, accessories, scary lawn blow up figures, and The Grinch.

I digress. My point being is as a child, I remember three separate holidays. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. They used to be individual- but it seems we have Christmas promotions, deals and items being put up on shelves earlier and earlier each year. At this rate- I'm tempted to tell the stores just don't ever take your Christmas section of the store out. But I would really like to see Halloween items up for a few days past the holiday. I'd like to see Thanksgiving and Harvest items in their own section of the store, to be celebrated.

I'm thankful for my family, for all we are, and do for each other.
I'm thankful I have two wonderful parents, who've been my ultimate role models. For everything they've given us children, for all they've sacrificed for us- I am grateful.
I'm thankful for the two sisters, and the brother I have. Being the oldest- I look back on all these years, all these holidays- and I wonder where the time has gone. From when we used to make construction paper cut-outs of Indian and Pilgrim costumes, to Harvest crafts.... And now this year, where all but my brother are here together. He's here in spirit, and will be home for Christmas. My siblings are my best friends.
I'm thankful for all my friends- those who I know from my younger days, from college, from living in various states and through a multitude of jobs. From the many friends I've met through here- online. Each of you have touched me in a way, and I'm so glad I have you as friends.

So here's to Turkey Coma's, having funny conversations at the dinner table, eating homemade pies and having some relative pinch your cheeks as they say hello. I'm thankful that we're here, together.

Happy Thanksgiving my dear friends!!

The Good Goth - Dark, Sexy & Dramatic Eyes

Updated 03/05/2011 & 03/06/2011

This is strictly my own personal opinion about the matter. All material uncovered was done through a public google internet search with a few different keyword entries.

Due to information uncovered and revealed about this company, I cannot in good conscience or good faith recommend anyone support this reportedly handmade, organic small business. If information had been disclosed prior to discovery by the shop owner herself, I would have no problem with continuing to purchase. Regretfully, the scope of the lie and how many different people it could have potentially affected and hurt leaves me no other choice than to say this is not an honest company to do business with.

Yesterday's look was a bit on the dramatic side... Ok, ok... More like definitely dramatic. What can I say?! I love drawing attention to my eyes, and I love sparkles. So it kind of makes sense that I'd want to do a dark look on my eyes, right?! Right!

It's gothic with a twist. I kept my lips fairly nude. But my eyes... Wowza! The tutorial is below for you to check out!

For me, having bold eyes is fun. It's a way for me to express my feelings for the day- whether it be fun, silly, quirky, or sullen. Yes- we all have gray days. Yesterday it was Danger for some reason. I don't know why... I just felt dark, full of emotion... And craving glitter. A poll on my Facebook Page revealed the color I would be using: Purple.

What's on my face:

Nivea Moisturizing Cream

e.l.f. Complexion Perfection
(under eyes, around nose, chin)

e.l.f. Concealer & Highlighter Wands
(cover blemishes, highlight nose & temples)

PF: Organics Mineral Foundation

The Eyes Have It with Orglamix Mineral Cosmetics:

Magnetism
Eye Primer

Fig

Grape Hyacinth

Pink Twinkle Effects

Vanilla Birthday Cake

Finishing Off:

Silvery-White Creme Eye Shadow Stick
(off brand, not sure which? Applied after primer, before Fig)

Wet 'N Wild Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Black

WNW Gel Eyeliner in Black

Fantasy Makers (WNW) Silver Glitter Eyeliner

WNW MegaLength Mascara in Black

Cheeks have Baie Rose dusted on them (Orglamix)

Lips have e.l.f.'s Minty Lip Gloss in New York City mixed with Baie Rose.

There's the look! While this isn't quite a look for the faint of heart, if you're looking for a change- this definitely fits the bill! It's fun, it's glittery and sparkly, and you'll get lots of compliments for certain!

Thanks for stopping by as always!

I'm on a kick here with incorporating some dark into my looks... So it's a pinup look, with a darker, sexier twist!

There you have it! The look is quick and simple!
Wear it to work (with lighter lips), and darken up the lips for a sexy evening style!

Nivea Soft Moisturizing Cream
e.l.f. Complexion Perfection
e.l.f. Concealer (over blemishes) & Highlighter (applied to cheekbones)
Too Faced Illuminating Foundation Wand in London Fair

Another sports team has been created!

Well, on my eyes at least! This latest request comes from Melanie and Paola, and is dedicated to Lexi! Whilst orange and teal are colors that certainly don't look attractive together (think of their uniforms... eek!) they certainly can, and will, work on the eyes!

So here we go.... Grabbing a few colors, we paint with our brushes! Priming your eyes before putting on shadows helps for a number of reasons:

1. The colors stay put
2. There is no creasing
3. Minimal blending of colors (where they meet, if not blended together)
4. No "runny" makeup- as in melting off your face

This is great, especially taking into consideration where you watch football games:
1. A Stadium
2. A Sports Bar (21+ only please!!)
3. Your living room

There are various factors which come in to play in each setting which could help your makeup run off your face unless... Namely, your eye shadows.

Stadiums- they can be indoors or out. If you're out, you hope you don't get rained out.... Snowed out... Or even worse- furnace blasting hot, converting your once perfect face into a melting waxy mess of color. Bad bad bad! When you apply foundation which is liquid based, always finish by setting your makeup with a translucent or High Definition powder. This locks your carefully created porcelain finish into staying that way. The same thing goes for eye shadows- the eyelid primer you use essentially locks your eye colors in place. And, of course, always use waterproof mascara if you're going to be outside or at a bar- you never know when it's going to rain... Or when a beer fight's gonna break out.

Now that we have the ground rules established, see how to create the look below!

Face Off:
Nivea Soft Moisturizing Cream
e.l.f. Concealer
Too Faced Illuminating Foundation in London Fair
e.l.f. High Definition finishing powder

The Eyes Have It:
Moi Minerals Cosmetics Mineral Eye Shadow in Drifter.
Orglamix Cosmetics Mineral Eye Shadows in Mandarin and Vanilla Birthday Cake
Wet 'N Wild Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Black
WNW Gel/Creme Eyeliner in Black
WNW MegaLength Mascara in Black

Finishing the Look:
e.l.f. Super Glossy Lip Shine in Candlelight

There you have it- knockout team colors Eye Look for the Miami Dolphins!
This one's for you Lexi!

Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!

Let's hear it for purple, orange and white! Yes, they can be worn together! And I show you how!

This was a request from Relynn over on my Facebook Page where I asked anyone interested to post their favorite Team Names and Colors in the Forum found underneath the "Discussions" Tab. I'm going to try and do these in order, so if there are multiple teams- what I'm going to do is one first, then go to the next person's inquiry, and then perhaps come back every few teams or so.... Just to be fair!

Anyways- if you want to see your team colors in a color combination on my eyes, go leave your info! Clemson University Football here we come! I dove in with three of the best representative colors in my collection that can easily be had- and they're listed below. In addition, I'm using brushes from e.l.f. which include the "C" Brush, the Blending Brush, The Crease Brush, and The Small Precision Brush.

Bright and bold colors, but subtle enough that it's not over the top for drama factor. This is one combination I just might end up wearing one day because I feel like it- the colors made my eyes really pop and I love how they shimmered and sparkled. Let's get to the good stuff!!

Face Off:

Nivea Soft Moisturizing Cream

e.l.f. Complexion Perfection

e.l.f. Concealer

Too Faced Illumination Foundation Wand in London Fair

Physicians Formula: Organics Mineral Foundation in Translucent

The Eyes Have It:

Orglamix Cosmetics Mineral Eye Shadows in:

Acai Berry

Mandarin

Vanilla Birthday Cake

Wet 'N Wild Gel Eyeliner in Black

WNW MegaLength Mascara in Black

WNW Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Black

Finishing Touches:

e.l.f Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Bark

Orglamix Blush in Ginger

With all that done- I'm ready for the chips and dip! How about you??

El'Aundra - It started with a comment...

One one of my blog posts.
It was an invite to answer a few questions about myself, and I had the chance to be featured. Me? I just create some pretty eye looks, post some pretty pictures, and hope people follow me and my silly antics  here and on YouTube.

Featured somewhere else, by someone that noticed ME?! Rock on!

I headed on over to El'Aundra to check it out. My first reaction, honestly, was "Wow!"

I started to read through some of the blog posts which feature "Beauty Mavens"- as us makeup lovers are so awesomely called, "PrimaDonna's"- who are the awesome fashionistas, and "Personal Featured Follower" who are just the "lurkers" who go around reading- but hey, they're people too! There's also "Healthy Me" posts, which I find very inspiring, and great tips, tricks... And even giveaways on other blogs! Can we say saaaa-weeet!?!

It's a refreshing change in pace to see real girls answer real questions, to see what motivates and drives them, to see what dreams are being sought, what accomplishments are being made, and a really good  way to meet new friends.

Here's to Elle for having such a great blog!
It really is unique and one of a kind, and I plan on stopping by often to check out the new Mavens, Primadonna's, Healthy chicks, and Featured Follower readers. I hope you do too!

Happy reading to all!

Get the Look - Iridescent Bubbles Upon My Eyes

I remember being a kid, and getting a new bottle of bubbles each summer. I'd sit in the sunshine in my backyard, and try to make the biggest one possible with my little wand. Careful concentration, along with quick breaths were key.... And before you knew it, I'd have a sparkling, shimmering bubble reflecting all sorts of rainbow colors in the sunlight.

For a while, I was so enamored with them, during a trip to a Science Museum, I stayed at the bubble table while everyone continued on. Finally realizing I wasn't with them, one of the chaperons came back and found me still playing. Lucky for me, I didn't get into trouble. I was mesmerized with the tiny bubble clumps, each one having a different iridescent reflection- but all of them with the same colors. To me, they were magic. They still are!

When my friend Mary posted this song to my profile, along with a request to do create a look which was light, airy and colorful. This is also one of my favorite songs, from one of my all time favorite movies! I mean come on- what girl wouldn't want a pair of ruby red, glittery shoes?

I scooped up some colors, and quickly got to work. A little color here, a little color there... And soon upon my eyes danced the same colors one would find when looking at the surface of a bubble! I think out of all my looks, this one is one of my top 5. It just reminds me so much of being a kid- and sitting in the sun blowing bubbles. Or even better- near a bubble machine, so as they popped out into the air, they felt like butterflies alighting on your skin as they popped.

For a little extra shine, I glued on a 2mm and a 4mm crystal on the inner and outer corners of my eye. With the application of fantasy lashes in magenta, it really upped the look to the next level of pretty. More glitter, more sparkle- gotta love it! Of course, if worn to work you wouldn't want to add the extra glitteries and lashes.... But for a night out, or a Halloween look.... You can't go wrong!

In order to blend the colors, you want to make sure you have a fluffy brush that will not wipe all the color off your lids. If the brush is too dense, it will do such. By using a fluffy brush, it will evenly distribute the colors and gradually blend the colors out softly without wiping it off completely. The brush I'm using is from e.l.f. and is the Blending Brush. You can also use the e.l.f. Crease Brush to blend- however, it's considerably smaller than the blending brush, so it may take a little more time to achieve the soft gradient blends. As with any look, if a color goes on too sheer- blend it out as if it were the color you wanted. Go back for a little bit more, and continue alternating between the blending and adding color until you achieve the pigment you want.

Remember- have fun!

On My Face:

Nivea Soft Moisturizing Cream

Second up for the Sports Team series is one of my hometown teams: The Boston Bruins! Now I caught a lot of flak for not doing one of the Mass. teams first off, but whatever.... I promised it would be the second! And of course, since hockey season is starting to gear up- I had to get this one done! Woo-hoo!

It's time for Black, Gold & White! I haven't been to a game yet... But soon I tell you, soon! There's nothing like sitting in the stands at a rink, freezing your patootie off. Cold fingers, keeping them burrowed into your pockets in some attempt to keep them warm. I digress.

Hopefully, this look will come in handy-dandy when my sister and a few of her friends take the trek to see the team again this coming December 2010. I'm so jealous! But it's alright- I'm the one that came up with this look! [laughs]

The cosmetics I'm using are from My Beauty Addiction, and definitely a worthy combination for the Bruins! In my entire collection of mineral makeup, these were the perfect colors for me to use.
Highly pigmented, Pot 'O Gold absolutely jumps off your eyes and screams "look at me!!!", and as for the Chrome- well, you might as well have peeled it off a nice bumper. It's highly reflective, and bright! Storm is a deliciously dark and sparkly shadow which blends out to a beautiful soft black, and the last touch is pearl, which looks just like some crushed up dainty shimmers. Are you ready for some hockey!?!

The Face Off:

Nivea Soft Moisturizing Cream
e.l.f. concealer
MBA Shadow Poxy Eye primer- all over lid, and on the bags under my eyes
Physicians Formula: Organics Mineral Foundation in Translucent
e.l.f. High Definition Powder
Orglamix Cosmetics Mineral Eye Shadow in Baie Rose used as Blush
e.l.f. Minty Lip Gloss in New York City

The Eyes Have It:
My Beauty Addiction Mineral Eye Shadows:
Pot 'O Gold

So here's to all you Bruins fans! I hope you like the look!

Get the Look - Blue and Shimmery

I'm sure many of you are hesitant to use blue on your eyes. I think of it, and visions of 80's chicks in plastic bangle bracelets, bright pink lips, crimped hair and blue eyeshadow everywhere enter my head... And I shriek! That's not my idea of fun makeup.... Unless you're headed to a theme party.

All joking aside, blue is a very versatile color. It comes in shades of the lightest pastel, to electric blue, to deep almost black colors. All which are very pretty. Most which when worn correctly, will look quite stunning. For instance, today I've used bright blues. The key to pulling off this look is moderation.

I've chosen three colors that are similar to each other, but still different. Now, in the pictures and the video it kinda looks like I have one color on. Rest assured, I don't. When you blend blues out, they combine, and a variety of gorgeous shading comes in to play. You need the lighter blue on the inside half of your lid to brighten up and widen eyes. The mid-tone blue on the outer half adds contouring, to tone down and compliment the lighter one. And finally, the darker blue creates shadows and depth to your crease. With the addition of a white shimmery brow highlighter, you can blend the blues down to lighter shades if you want to as well.

Depending on how your eyes catch the light with this sort of combination, it will appear various shades of blue are on your lids. And who can resist that!? A light eyeliner is key as well- you don't want to go too heavy handed with it. The blues are bright enough that just a hint of color is needed along your lash line. On your bottom lid, only bring the liner half way across from the outside to the middle, and only apply it to the roots of the lashes. Applying the white kohl eyeliner to the bottom waterline, along with the same highlighter color used on your brow, will really open your eyes up and make them appear wider. Along with the blues, it will also brighten up the whites of your eyes and intensify the color of your eyes- blue eyes take on a lot of the shade colors. Green can turn a little aqua, and brown eyes will turn to a rich chocolate.

I apologize for the lack of pictures in this post... As I so often warn you, be careful you don't poke your eyes with a brush. I think mine was victim of the mascara wand- I honestly don't remember. But I'm not showing you my beautifully bright pink eye along with the awesome blue shadows. Nope, not happening.

Product list of what's on my face:
Nivea Soft moisturizing cream
e.l.f. Zit Zapper
e.l.f. Complexion Perfection
Physicians Formula: Organics Translucent Mineral Foundation

Eyes Moi Minerals Cosmetics mineral eye shadow colors in:
Fame- light, bright blue on inner half of eye
O'Baby- shimmery medium blue on outer half of eye
Bobbie- dark blue, used in crease and to create depth
Shimmers & Pearls- white shadow, used on brow bone, inner corner of eyes, upper crease to blend blues, and on lower waterline
Lips- MMC gloss in Lover
Wet 'N Wild Kohl Eyeliner in Black and White
WNW MegaLength Mascara in Black

So there you have it, a stunning blue look!

Play with color!!
