Get the Look - The Dark Carnival Harlequin Clown

Updated 03/05/2011 & 03/06/2011

This is strictly my own personal opinion about the matter. All material uncovered was done through a public google internet search with a few different keyword entries.

Due to information uncovered and revealed about this company, I cannot in good conscience or good faith recommend anyone support this reportedly handmade, organic small business. If information had been disclosed prior to discovery by the shop owner herself, I would have no problem with continuing to purchase. Regretfully, the scope of the lie and how many different people it could have potentially affected and hurt leaves me no other choice than to say this is not an honest company to do business with.

For information as to why, you can read more below:

I'm terrified of clowns. As in, I see one, and a full blown panic attack starts to well up inside me.... And if it gets real bad, or I'm surprised by one "friendly" one even- I'll faint. It's not fun. This terror stems from one of my Uncles actually listening to me as a 6 year old when I said I wanted to watch "a scary movie!!". I didn't think he'd take it so seriously.... Since my idea was along the lines of Snow White or Sleeping Beauty. You know- because The Evil Queen and Maleficent are two scary women!

What does my Uncle do? He makes us some popcorn. Snuggles me into a blanket on the couch, and pops in "Stephen King's: The It". I will never, ever, ever get over that terror. Sheesh... Writing this is giving me the chills. Seems strange that I dressed up as a full blown clown for a High School drama production though.... I couldn't see anything but my red nose on my face. And I did my best to ignore my cast-mates so I wouldn't s**t my pants. It was a Dr. Seuss production- why were dressed as clowns, I have no clue.

There is one type I can handle. Well, two technically. Is a mime a clown? Well, I digress. Harlequin clowns are pretty- and remind me more of jesters than my nightmare red-nosed, white face painted and freaky terrors. Harlequins are silly- funny, musical, and generally there for a laugh. This look- I had immense fun creating. Something dark and gothic for Halloween, but also a hint of playful in there.

The important thing to remember is to use gel eyeliner. This will give you the darkest coverage for the swirls on your face- a kohl eyeliner can be used, but the lines and points won't be so sharp and precise. In addition to a flat eyeliner brush (as opposed to an angled one), you can also pick up the color with a very fine artists brush.

Now for the rundown of what's on my face:

E.L.F. Complexion Perfection (to even out redness and colored undertones)
E.L.F. Concealer- under eyes, and over blemishes
Physicians Formula: Organics Mineral Foundation in Translucent
E.L.F. High Definition Powder (matte finish to face)

What's on my Eyes:
Orglamix Cosmetics Mineral Eye Shadows

A black creme shadow all over lid
Midnight, Cranberry and Vanilla Birthday Cake for lids and shading
Cranberry also layered onto cheeks for blush and contouring

Wet 'N Wild Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in Black
WNW Gel Eyeliner in Black
WNW MegaLength Mascara in Black
WNW Silver Glitter Eyeliner (outlined entire eye, over black)

Glitter tipped false lashes

Lips:

E.L.F. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen to outline
WNW Kohl Eyeliner in Black and blended
E.L.F. Minty Lip Gloss in New York

There you have it!
Have a wickedly good Halloween ghouls!

Thanks for stopping by!
