EOTD and Hair of the Week.... Whoopsie!!

So yeah, I know I've been saying all day I'll show you what I did to my hair. So here it is. I made you wait!! I don't really feel bad for making you wait either... Because I'm going to bed, and I'll see comments sometime tomorrow! HAHAHA!

While not entirely happy with the end result, I'm waiting about a week and then more bleaching is in store... So yes, I will be a blonde, but not completely. I'll also have to deal with this in-between weirdness for 7 days. Maybe sooner, depending on how I feel my hair can take the bleach. This go, I whacked it with 2 coats and it's just a little dry- I'm very happy it didn't burn or break my hair! It's rugged! My goal is to keep the under 1/3 of my hair black, the majority of it platinum/blonde highlights, and hopefully my trademark crazy red color. We'll see how this project goes- I may need to enlist the help of a friend, or my sister when she gets home. This is going to be interesting to say the least...

Anywho- on my eyes I played around with colors from my BH Cosmetics 1st Edition 120 Palette which I won- yay! I don't play around with it as often as I should... Because I could come up with some pretty sick looks!

On my eyes I have a shimmery white on my brow bone, a whitish gray on my lid, a gold-ish color on the outer 1/2. Then the crease of my eye I put a medium brown, and blended it out very well. To my crease I added a shimmery green, then put a touch of a lighter green at the outer "V" of my eyes. After lining my lower waterline in white kohl pencil, I added a lavender color to the outer 2/3, and a yellow-green to the inner 1/3. Under my lashes I tucked a deeper purple color, a hot magenta, and in the very corner- a pretty and bright touch of yellow!

Once my kohl eyeliner was applied, I brushed a shimmery black over it, then swiped a pretty shimmery purple above the black line. Voila! Mascara and I was done!

So yeah- the moral of the story? You might not be thrilled with the way your hair turns out while trying to pull a red like mine out to go blonde- but it is possible! It's just going to take a little bit of time. Yes, it's going to be brassy the first time you bleach it- yes, my hair is incredibly brassy right now. Yes, I have a violet wash shampoo that will take the majority of it out for me... And yes, I think this could be a heck of a lot more interesting! What's the point in beauty adventures if you're not willing to laugh at yourself?! I'm laughing!! I look like part Jessica Rabbit, part Carrot-Top (not ugly face though...), part awesome black hair... And part Malibu Barbie with the blond-platinum going on in some spots. WTH?! HA!

And yes- I did chop my hair short! Like... SUPER short for me!! What do you think?! I kinda like how it's a lot easier to dry, and straighten... And I think it's gonna look adorable once I'm blonde. I mean, really blonde. *laughs*

P.S. I remember now why I don't typically keep my hair this short: When I go to wash my makeup off, I can't pull it into a ponytail. I need 4 different ones to keep my hair back, and that's just freaking hilarious. And no- I'm not taking a picture of that!!!

  1. Your eye make up looks nice but I can't the same about your hair :(

  2. I freakin' love the colors you have in your hair! I think the length is a little short for me but I have issues with me and short hair! It definitely doesn't look bad on you, it actually frames your face very nicely!

  3. I actually like it like this. It looks like all the colors of fire.

  4. I did a similar 'hair transition' a few years back. After some massive bleaching, they had to dye it a light blue to negate the red, then color all of it blonde. The amazing thing, she not only nail my original hair color, but my hair was stronger than ever!!! The stylist was fully expecting it to start falling apart in her hands by the end of all the processing.

  5. I kind of love your hair oops... I had one my freshman year of college where I tried to bleach my hair after having dyed it black about six months prior. Note to self: don't ever dye hair pure black! After an excessive amount of time with the bleach on my head, I ended up with a horizontal line around my head: blonde above, pure black below. The best part? People thought I did it on purpose... lmao.

  6. i would definitely get an rgc (red gold corrector) its a blue based dye and stick it in your shampoo.. it will tone down a bit of brassyness/red for you..and do ZERO damage to your hair. and when you bleach again.. make sure to use blue toned bleach &/or put some rgc in it as well. I myself pull massive amounts of red when i bleach out also.. so that's the advice I have for you. :D hope it helps. If you want suggestions for the blue bleach I normally use: Prism Lights blue lightener. **a photo of what I use can be found on my blog if you're interested in seeing what it looks like >>http://mrskittykaboom.blogspot.com/2011/03/black-blue.html** :D

  7. I actually am really digging the color! Not sure about the length, though! It's so weird to not see your hair all over the place in the pictures! Whatever you plan on doing with it, I can't wait to see!

  8. It actually looks pretty cool! I can't wait to see the finished product!

  10. Whoa :D I like the length - short hair is so much easier to handle!

  11. I like your look :) But It seems like your hair is really dry and damaged? I don't know if it's good for your hair to bleach it so quick...

  12. I've had similar mistakes. Also, my hair is about the same length as yours now and I absolutely LOVE it. I haven't had short hair in ages and it's so much easier than when it was longer.

  13. I think it would look amazing if you just TONE it with some ash and keep some of the red still in it but taking the brassiness out!

  14. The expression on your face in the first photo almost sells the hair for me. Like if you could pull of a quirky attitude about it you could almost keep it. But I feel for you. Once you hate hair it's hard to turn that hate into love ;)

  15. @mNg: I agree! I'm not crazy about my hair color (I love the cut), but I need to wait before I can bleach it any more! My eyes I loved though!! :D

@KimmieKarma<3: Thank you! I guess I'm not used to having orange hair... LOL It's kinda workin, but... I can't wait to even it out!

@DawnDrost: I never thought of that... Perhaps that's why my guy likes it- he's a pyro. HAHAHA!

@Body Language Skin Essentials: WOW! You're lucky! The stylists wanted to charge me $100/hour to "color correct" and put blonde highlights in... I'm like yeah, I can do it myself thanks. :D

@Andrea: That sounds really cool!! Black and blonde is hot!

@MrsKittyKaBoom: Thank you so much for the info! My sister grabbed me a correcting shampoo, but if it doesn't work I'll have her get me some of that stuff! I may be seeking out more info from you ;)

@Reggie: Thanks!! I'm just the opposite, love the cut, not crazy about the color! But do not fear- my hair grows like a WEED... It'll be back to shoulder-length by July!

    @Michelle: Thanks girl!!

@rivercitylizzy: Me too... I want to keep the red streaks, but don't know how bad it'll stain the blonde each time I do this... We'll see! Maybe I'll just take Makeup Zombie's suggestion and do blonde up top, and red underneath! And then come fall... Going back to my red ;)

@Ki: Thank you!! I can make a teeny, tiny ponytail in the back! HAHAHA!

@Manja: Yes, it's quite dry... I've put a lot of moisturizing conditioner in, but I think I'm gonna hit it again tonight... I think I'm gonna put conditioner in my hair and sleep with it overnight. I'm surprised I didn't break/burn my hair off :X

@TrailerHood Chic: Awesome!! Isn't it great to have low maintenance hair?! I love how I feel like an "Air Head" when my hair gets cut- it literally lifts weight! My hair is SO heavy when it grows long!! When it's chopped, I feel "lifted"!!

@LC: That's an idea! OOoohhh.... I like that a lot!

@GenkiOriana: Hahaha! Thank you!!! I like some parts of it- like... The really blonde parts, and the really red parts... But not the orange ones! :D

  16. I adore the eye makeup, and I think your hair actually looks great, too! Isn't it nice when we get these happy accidents, while in the process of moving from one color to another, and wind up with stuff that 1-we can live with and 2-actually looks decent and like it might have been deliberate? That's where I am right now. About to go for a second round of color stripper, or possibly just start with the bleach, this weekend, and I'm afraid it's going to start looking a mess. Right now, everyone who's seen it thinks I was aiming for this color (I just don't tell them it's actually an in-between stage and a lucky turnout). But next week, I think, will be all about the headscarves. :) Anyway, love your blog, lady! I think you'll be adorable blonde, too.
